West Monroe has an opportunity for a Managing Director-level leader with deep cybersecurity expertise, strong client advisory capabilities, a proven record of originating and growing cybersecurity business, and a passion for helping organizations navigate the intersection of cybersecurity and AI. This role will focus on helping clients manage cyber risk , modernize security programs, and internal relationships, originating and closing new business opportunities, shaping innovative cyber and AI offerings, and building strategic alliances with cybersecurity technology vendors. The role will support clients across industries, including financial services, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, high tech & software, and , helping them leverage cybersecurity and AI as drivers of both risk reduction and enterprise value creation.

This is a growth-oriented, market-facing leadership role. The Managing Director is expected to create demand, build pipeline, develop thought leadership, and help West Monroe become more visible as a cybersecurity advisor in the market.

Managing Director-level team members within West Monroe have three main responsibilities:

Business Development:
  • Develop and expand relationships with executives, including CISO, CTOs, CIOs, CROs, business executives, investors, operating partners, and board members
  • Identify, originate, and close new business opportunities across cybersecurity strategy, cyber risk management, cybersecurity program standup or implementation services, transaction services, and value creation initiatives
  • Lead business development efforts with prospective and existing clients, leveraging an established professional network and industry relationships
  • Partner with West Monroe's M&A and private equity teams to bring integrated solutions to investors and portfolio companies
  • Partner with West Monroe industry and account leaders to expand cybersecurity services into enterprise accounts across financial services, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, high tech & software, and other priority sectors
  • Translate client objectives and business challenges into actionable consulting engagements and solution offerings
  • Develop engagement approaches, scope projects, and create pricing estimates and proposals
  • Represent West Monroe at industry conferences, networking events, and private equity ecosystem forums
  • Develop market-facing thought leadership and executive points of view that help clients understand cyber risk, business urgency, and the practical path to improvement
  • Develop go-to-market (GTM) strategies for AI-focused cybersecurity offerings, including AI governance, AI risk management, secure AI adoption, AI-enabled cyber resilience, and AI security assessments
  • Advise clients on the cybersecurity implications of AI adoption, including governance, data protection, model security, and emerging regulatory requirements
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with cybersecurity and technology vendors to create joint GTM opportunities and expand market presence
  • Develop alliance strategies and co-selling motions with key partners across cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and resiliency ecosystems

Client Delivery:
  • Expertise in cybersecurity coupled with the ability to communicate issues to C-Level executives and boards on cybersecurity approaches and market dynamics
  • Strategic leadership on teams serving clients across industries while demonstrating executive presence with senior-level client counterparts
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to private equity firms and portfolio company executives on cybersecurity risk, resilience, governance, and strategic security initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to enterprise clients on cybersecurity transformation, security program modernization, secure technology adoption, and security capability buildout
  • Advise clients across core cybersecurity domains such as security strategy, governance, risk management, identity and access management, security operations, vulnerability management, cloud security, application security, software security, third-party risk, cyber resilience, and incident readiness
  • Advise executive teams on the transformation of the security function, including AI-enabled operating models, security automation, governance modernization, talent implications, and the evolving role of the CISO as a business and technology leader.
  • Interface with all levels of business and technology leadership both internally and at clients
  • Act as an executive sponsor and engagement leader for cybersecurity-related client engagements
  • Provide executive-level guidance on cybersecurity implications related to acquisitions, integrations, carve-outs, growth initiatives, and exit readiness
  • Facilitate executive workshops, board presentations, and strategic planning sessions
  • Partner closely with cybersecurity delivery teams to ensure successful outcomes and exceptional client service
  • Oversee project economics, including scope management, budgets, and profitability
  • Support the development and mentoring of consulting teams while maintaining high-quality client delivery

Practice Development:
  • Contribute to the growth and evolution of West Monroe's AI-focused cybersecurity offerings.
  • Drive the development/enhancement of West Monroe's AI-focused methodologies, approaches and accelerators to cybersecurity project delivery
  • Help develop and refine offerings across cybersecurity strategy, security operations, application security, cloud security, AI security, cyber resilience, M&A cyber, and cyber value creation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across M&A, high tech and software, technology, operations, and value creation service lines
  • Lead the creation of differentiated AI-enabled cybersecurity solutions that can be scaled across clients, including assets that support AI governance, secure AI adoption, CISO office modernization, offensive and defensive security strategy, and security operating model transformation
  • Develop thought leadership around cybersecurity trends impacting private equity investors and middle-market companies and large enterprise clients
  • Support recruiting, mentoring, and professional development efforts across the practice
  • Help identify emerging client needs and opportunities to expand West Monroe's cybersecurity capabilities

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity consulting, cyber risk management, information security leadership, or a related advisory field
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, business, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated success developing executive relationships and driving business development
  • Proven record originating and growing cybersecurity work within large enterprise or industry accounts, including partnering with industry/account leaders to shape integrated offerings
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity strategy, governance, risk management, application security, and security program development
  • Experience advising executive leadership teams, boards of directors, and investors on cybersecurity matters
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience building qualified pipeline, leading pursuits, shaping proposals, and closing executive-level opportunities is highly preferred
  • Prior experience as a CISO, security executive, cybersecurity consulting leader, or equivalent senior advisory role preferred
  • Established professional network across CISOs, CIOs, CTOs, cyber technology vendors, industry groups, private equity operating teams, or enterprise security buyers is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal relationships, navigate an interdisciplinary consulting environment, and collaborate across practices to create integrated client solutions.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, CISM, or similar credentials are preferred
  • Ability to travel 50%+ as required

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity. Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.
