POSITION SUMMARYThe Firm Operations & Client Advisory Manager will oversee the firm's accounting and tax professionals, ensure high-quality client service, and provide financial guidance to small business clients. This role combines practice management, staff leadership, client relationship management, and fractional CFO-style advisory services.
While business development opportunities are available, this position is not expected to carry a sales quota or focus on new client acquisition.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting practice.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 7-8 accounting and administrative professionals.
- Review tax returns, financial statements, and client deliverables for accuracy and quality.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business clients regarding financial performance, profitability, cash flow, budgeting, and growth strategies.
- Present financial statements and key performance metrics to clients.
- Provide fractional CFO and outsourced accounting support to small and mid-sized businesses.
- Establish and improve internal processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with client issue resolution and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with firm ownership on strategic planning and operational initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS- CPA license strongly preferred; Enrolled Agent (EA) designation will also be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive experience within a CPA firm, tax practice, or public accounting environment.
- Prior experience managing accounting professionals and overseeing client engagements.
- Strong background in tax, financial statement preparation, and small business accounting.
- Experience advising business owners on financial performance, cash flow, budgeting, and operational decisions.
- Ability to confidently present financial information and recommendations to clients.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with common tax, accounting, and practice management software.
