Full Job Description
Akerman's New York office seeks an experienced Managing Clerk to support our Litigation Practice Group. This hybrid position is based in New York and requires three days in the office and two days remote. The successful candidate will serve as a key resource to attorneys and staff on court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation deadlines while supporting matters across the firm's national platform.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource to attorneys and staff regarding court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation deadlines.
  • Prepare, review, and electronically file legal documents in federal, state, and local courts, primarily in New York and New Jersey.
  • Support Delaware court filings and filings in other jurisdictions nationwide as needed.
  • Monitor court rule changes and advise legal teams regarding procedural updates.
  • Partner with the firm's docketing team to ensure accurate calendaring, deadline management, and risk mitigation.
  • Train and support litigation assistants and docketing personnel to promote consistency and compliance with firm procedures.
  • Maintain accurate filing, docketing, and reporting records.


Qualifications

  • Previous Managing Clerk or Assistant Managing Clerk experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in litigation support, docketing, calendaring, or court filings.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal and state court filing systems, including CM/ECF, PACER, NYSCEF, and similar e-filing platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of New York and New Jersey court procedures.
  • Experience with Delaware state and federal court filings, including the Delaware Court of Chancery, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling filings across multiple jurisdictions nationwide is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CourtAlert, CompuLaw, American LegalNet, or similar docketing systems.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively across departments.


Job Type: Full-Time; Monday - Friday (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $100,000 - $153,000 annually; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Bonus: Discretionary holiday bonus
