JOB PURPOSE:
The West Campus Facilities Manager provides senior-level leadership and operational management for all facilities, maintenance, custodial coordination, and infrastructure operations across Howard University’s West Campus. This position serves as the primary facilities authority for the campus, ensuring that buildings, utilities, and grounds remain safe, reliable, and fully operational. The Manager oversees maintenance teams, custodial partners, and contractors while ensuring full compliance with engineering standards, APPA benchmarks, regulatory requirements, and University service expectations. The role carries significant operational responsibility and autonomy due to the size, complexity, and visibility of West Campus.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
Supervises maintenance technicians, trades personnel, custodial leads, administrative support, and contracted service providers assigned to West Campus. Oversees external vendors performing preventive maintenance, building repairs, custodial operations, inspections, and other facilities-related services.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include faculty, staff, students, Residence Life, Public Safety, academic departments, and administrative units. External contacts include contractors, vendors, utility partners, regulatory inspectors, custodial firms, and maintenance service providers. The Manager serves as the face of PFM for all West Campus facilities matters.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree with extensive experience considered. At least 7 years of progressive experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, or engineering services. Supervisory experience overseeing teams or contractors. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems. Proficiency with CMMS systems and work order management. OSHA, CEFP, or trade certifications preferred. Ability to respond to emergencies, work evenings/weekends, and support critical campus needs.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
$110,000 - $115,000
