Position Summary

The Wealth Management (WM) Fraud Prevention Manager leads the WM Fraud Prevention Program within WM Business Unit Control, with responsibility for program strategy, governance, control effectiveness, fraud risk oversight, education, metrics, issue remediation, and emerging risk identification.

The role partners with Global Fraud, Operations, Compliance, Risk Management, Technology, Audit, Legal, and WM business leaders to strengthen the fraud control environment, implement fraud prevention capabilities, and protect clients and the organization from fraud-related risks.

The manager will lead a team of fraud specialists, setting priorities and driving execution across WM.

Major Duties

Program Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the WM Fraud Prevention Program, including strategic priorities, roadmap development, and alignment with enterprise fraud-risk objectives

  • Strengthen fraud risk management capabilities, controls, governance routines, reporting, and partner awareness across WM

  • Serve as the primary WM Control representative for fraud-related initiatives, working groups, and emerging risk discussions

People Leadership

  • Manage, develop, and coach fraud prevention team and supporting control professionals

  • Set team priorities, performance goals, development plans, and resource allocation across program needs

  • Promote accountability, collaboration, succession planning, and continuous improvement

Fraud Risk Management

  • Oversee fraud risk assessments for products, services, processes, client interactions, and technology initiatives

  • Ensure fraud risk considerations are incorporated into business changes, new-product reviews, technology enhancements, and strategic initiatives

  • Provide challenge and guidance on fraud-control design, effectiveness, escalation, and remediation of material risks or gaps

Fraud Prevention and Control Oversight

  • Lead initiatives to prevent, detect, and mitigate fraud across WM

  • Partner with Global Fraud, Technology, Operations, and business teams to implement and enhance fraud-control capabilities

  • Evaluate control effectiveness and support improvements in monitoring, authentication, analytics, and client-protection capabilities

Governance, Metrics, and Reporting

  • Establish and maintain fraud-related KRIs, metrics, dashboards, and reporting routines

  • Analyze internal losses, fraud events, emerging threats, and industry trends to assess risk exposure and program effectiveness

  • Deliver executive reporting and governance materials for senior leadership and committees

Training and Awareness

  • Oversee fraud-prevention training, awareness, and communications for WM partners and clients

  • Promote timely awareness of emerging threats, industry trends, and fraud prevention responsibilities

  • Partner with business leadership to reinforce a strong fraud-risk culture across WM

Issue Management and Regulatory Engagement

  • Oversee remediation of fraud-related audit findings, control gaps, risk issues, loss events, and significant fraud matters

  • Ensure corrective actions are sustainable, effective, and completed within required timelines

  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, independent reviews, and related investigations

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop partnerships with senior leaders across WM and enterprise functions

  • Influence decision-making through risk-based recommendations, data-driven insights, and stakeholder alignment

  • Represent WM within enterprise fraud governance structures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 8-12+ years of experience in Fraud Prevention, Fraud Risk Management, Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit, or related financial-services disciplines

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise programs and strategic initiatives

  • Experience managing people and developing high-performing teams

  • Experience interacting with senior leaders and executive governance committees

  • Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence partners across business and functional boundaries

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Wealth Management, Private Banking, Trust, Asset Management, or Financial Services

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CAMS, CRISC, CIA, CRCM, or similar professional certification

  • Experience implementing fraud technologies, fraud analytics, behavioral monitoring, authentication solutions, or fraud operations programs

  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations and audit activities

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 240,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
