The UX Manager will be responsible for working closely with cross-functional members of the development and planning teams to design a world-class product experience while ensuring a scalable, global implementation to meet future business needs.

We are looking to hire a critical member of the team to be the UX visionary. The UX Manager will be responsible for working closely with cross-functional members of the development and planning teams to design a world-class product experience while ensuring a scalable, global implementation to meet future business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of UX designers and technical writers focused on the suite of Omnipod products - Omnipod Dash, Omnipod 5, Omnipod View and our Omnipod Simulator App - across both iOS and Android platforms
  • Develop and coach existing multi-disciplinary UX team located in both the East and West coast offices. Collaborate heavily with UX peers and staff in Tijuana, San Diego and Boston. The team is currently 11 people with continued growth in 2021.
  • Ability to balance the development of the team with the development of the user experience. You should be as excited about managing and growing the staff, as you are about your product design expertise.
  • Focus on infusing the brand promise of Simplicity, Freedom and Happiness into all that we do internally and with our designs. Reduce complexity in our mobile app designs, our deliverables and our collaborations.
  • Engage, hire and manage UX vendors as needed to extend the team's capabilities when needed- including writing purchase orders, approving invoices and managing/overseeing their work and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with peer organizations such as Marketing, Product Management, Software Development, Human Factors, Clinical and Regulatory to help define and scope world class experiences for our products. Form strong relationships with functional stakeholders by developing and translating strategy into a multi-year road map including operational goals and objectives.
  • Drive User Centered design best practices into the product development teams through the Agile process.
  • Incorporate the adoption and integration of design research early and often through the lifecycle of the project through collaboration with the UX Research team.
  • Ability to build and manage a multidisciplinary UX team focused on the product design working in a SAFe Agile development environment with multiple integrations.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (HCI, Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors and/or equivalent) required.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in UX and product design, ideally with a focus on developing and implementing customer centric systems, with multiple touchpoints (Product, mobile, web) globally
  • At least 3 years of management experience including managing a large UX team working on mobile app development
  • Experience and demonstrated success in commercial execution for consumer-facing digital and physical products. Knowledge of medical device development a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of the diabetes disease state preferred
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams on high-visibility initiatives
  • Advanced working knowledge of User Experience methods and Design thinking process. Understands Systems and data management. Solid technical chops in the UX toolkit such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Abstract, XD, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong UX portfolio required


Physical Requirements:
  • International travel expected (at least once per quarter)
  • Ongoing US travel as needed (at least once per quarter)
  • In-person team / onsite in San Diego, CA


This position is eligible for hybrid working arrangements and requires on-site work from an Insulet office.
