The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has 1 (one) exciting indeterminate opportunity within the Technology branch at the CATSA Headquarters.

Summary of responsibilities:

The Manager, Technology Sustainment is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership to ensure CATSA screening technologies remain supportable, reliable, compliant and future-ready throughout their lifecycle. The role leads technology governance, readiness, lifecycle management, modernization, reliability, spare parts strategy and data-driven continuous improvement. The Manager develops sustainment strategies, business cases and long-term plans to support operational readiness, technology performance and future technology needs. The Manager, Technology Sustainment, performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Managing all aspects of performance.
• Establish and maintain technology standards, governance frameworks, maintenance documentation, configuration controls and change management processes.
• Lead technology readiness, sustainment planning and lifecycle management activities, including roadmaps, obsolescence management, replacement planning and decommissioning strategies.
• Oversee maintenance optimization, failure analysis, predictive maintenance and technology performance improvement initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement, KPI development and data-driven decision-making across the technology sustainment function.

What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

• Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree with specialization in project management, engineering, public administration, commerce or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the lifecycle management of complex technology systems, including planning, deployment, sustainment, maintenance, operational support, and performance monitoring.
• Two to three years (2-3) years of management experience, leading a team.
• Experience developing recommendations and business cases that balance technical, operational, financial and lifecycle considerations.
• Experience leading technical assessments, operational readiness activities, performance improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making for complex technology systems.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contract management and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience planning and implementing technology deployments, upgrades, enhancements or disposal activities in an operational environment.
• Knowledge of technology lifecycle management, asset management, continuous improvement and governance principles.

• Ability to use data, trends and performance information to support decision-making and continuous improvement (i.e., KPI development, reporting, performance analysis and planning activities).
• Strong stakeholder management and client-service orientation.

Valuable skills include:

• Experience working in an airport, transportation, or other regulated operational environment.
• Familiarity with security screening technologies or other complex technology systems.
• A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, PMP certification, or other related professional certification.
• Experience working with OEMs, maintenance service providers, suppliers, or contractors to support technology deployments, sustainment activities, or operational programs.
