About the Role

The Manager, North America Technical Sales - Audio, Video & Control is responsible for leading the technical sales enablement, customer training, and pre-sales engineering support for HARMAN Professional Solutions Audio, Video, and Control solutions across North America. This role partners closely with Independent Sales Representatives (ISRs), channel partners, consultants, end users, and internal sales teams to support solution adoption, strengthen technical engagement, and help drive business growth across the portfolio.

The Manager will lead a team of Application Engineers responsible for delivering technical expertise, customer and partner training, solution design guidance, system recommendations, product demonstrations, and pre-sales support for complex audio, video, and control deployments. This role serves as a key bridge between Sales, Product Management, and cross-functional HARMAN teams to ensure strong technical alignment, customer success, and effective communication of market feedback to influence future solutions and go-to-market strategies.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and develop a team of Application Engineers responsible for pre-sales technical support, customer training, and solution enablement across HARMAN Audio, Video, and Control solutions.
  • Partner closely with Independent Sales Representatives (ISRs), channel partners, consultants, and internal sales teams to provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the pre-sales process.
  • Deliver and evolve technical training programs for customers, partners, consultants, and end users to enable successful deployment and adoption of HARMAN solutions.
  • Provide pre-sales system design guidance, solution recommendations, product demonstrations, and technical presentations for complex audio, video, and control opportunities.
  • Collaborate with ISRs and sales leadership to identify opportunities and define technical strategies that support winning solution design and customer engagement.
  • Work with ISRs to identify territory-specific training and enablement needs and execute programs that improve technical capability and sales effectiveness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Management and Marketing to share customer insights, competitive feedback, and product roadmap input gathered through field engagement.
  • Support key customer-facing events, trade shows, and product demonstrations to strengthen technical credibility and market presence.
  • Guide and direct our presales technical team with project and time management, including project and training class tracking, and accountability.
  • Maintain and advance our quality standards regarding the proper deployment, use, and training of HARMAN Professional equipment.
  • Support our more advanced projects with on-site commissioning, system tuning, and programming assistance.


What You Need to Be Successful
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical pre-sales, application engineering, systems engineering, or related roles within the Pro AV industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
  • Strong understanding of audio, video, and control system design, including how integrated solutions are architected and deployed in real-world environments.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing technical training, presentations, or enablement programs for diverse audiences, including partners and end users.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams, particularly in a pre-sales environment supporting complex solution selling.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling value for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and build alignment without direct authority.
  • Comfort working directly with Independent Sales Representatives (ISRs) and supporting territory-based opportunity development.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a passion for developing people and improving technical capability across a team.


Bonus Points if You Have
  • Experience with control systems and DSP programming, configuration, or commissioning in professional AV environments.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts as they apply to AV system integration, including Dante audio networking.
  • Familiarity with HARMAN Audio, Video, and Control product ecosystems.
  • Prior experience supporting or enabling channel partners and distribution-based sales models.
  • Exposure to large-scale, multi-room, or enterprise AV system deployments.
  • Background working with consultants, integrators, or design-build partners in the Pro AV space.
  • Experience supporting product launches, trade shows, or customer-facing technical demonstrations.

Pay Transparency

$ 117,000 - $ 171,600

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
