MANDATE

Reporting to the Head, Sustainability Strategy & Disclosure, this enterprise-wide role supports BMO’s sustainability and climate reporting, sustainability metric quantification, data governance, and internal controls. The role coordinates the delivery of sustainability and climate disclosures, supports compliance with evolving reporting requirements, and maintains governance frameworks, processes, and internal controls to enable accurate, auditable, and decision-useful reporting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of sustainability and climate reporting activities, ensuring timely delivery of internal and external disclosures.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation, review, and sign-off of sustainability information and metrics.
  • Support the development of balanced, credible and compliant disclosures that consider legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
  • Monitor and interpret sustainability and climate disclosure standards and regulations (OSFI, ISSB/CSSB, CSRD, national, jurisdictional), assess gaps, and advance compliance and implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with ESG Controllership to maintain, implement and enhance the sustainability reporting governance framework (i.e. policies, procedures, methodologies) and internal controls to support accurate, auditable reporting.
  • Support enterprise compliance activities and assurance processes, including remediation of findings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of sustainability reporting technologies and processes, including Workiva, and provide user support, training and troubleshooting.
  • Support the collection, quantification, analysis and assurance of data for sustainability metrics, including operational and financed greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable finance metrics.
  • Conduct research to generate insights and support decision-making in relation to emerging sustainability topics, disclosure requirements, emissions data sources, and strategic priorities.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, and reporting for senior management, governance committees, and other stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in sustainability, business, finance, accounting or related field; Master’s or CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial services, audit/assurance, or sustainability.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks and data analytics; subject matter expertise in reporting processes and/or emissions quantification preferred
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional collaboration and navigate complex environments.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving and change management capabilities.

Salary:

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
