Job Description:
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Program Director, Surgery and Ambulatory Care, this position is responsible for the leadership and management of an in-patient surgery unit. The scope of the role includes inspiring others, effectively managing financial and human resources, overseeing clinical operations, promoting excellence in patient care and advancing team effectiveness and efficiency in a multidisciplinary Professional Practice Model.
The manager is also expected to support and implement evidence based practices and continuing process improvements to meet unit, program and organizational goals.

Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with a commitment to continuing education with membership in relevant professional association, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 3-5 years’ supervisory/managerial experience, including managerial accountability, in a Health Care Environment
- Minimum 5 years’ surgical nursing experience as well as experience in Endoscopy and Outpatient clinics
- Effective computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to accomplish objectives through others.
- Demonstrated skills in change management, project management and human resources management
- Demonstrated ability to utilize lean methodology tools to enhance the programs performance
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, control and evaluate management activities and to function in a self-directed but collaborative way
- Strong business and financial management experience
- Thorough understanding of utilization management and benchmarking
- Evidence of planning, analytical and organizational experience
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record
Ability to work well independently, perform the essential duties of the position and to exercise sound judgement
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, infection control and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record
