Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of current, efficient, automated student systems and applications for the student and enrollment division and the Academic departments. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of the production of the graduate and undergraduate calendars and the development and maintenance of the primary tools for the students' academic progression and the academic program curriculum changes. The incumbent co-coordinates other IT projects that are sponsored by the Director, IT Strategic Initiatives

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
• Knowledge of application systems development, database architecture, and information security program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
• Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
• Knowledge is used to lead technical service unit
• Contemporary best practices in IT architecture, information management, and technology programs and service delivery models
• Knowledge of IT applications, infrastructure and security and their integration
• Knowledge of project management
• Expert knowledge and experience in Banner and associated Student Administrative Systems are essential to support the university's objectives
• Knowledge is deployed to develop and lead a major functional area within the university
• Strong project management skills
• Proven ability to develop and implement large scale IT systems

Education and Experience:

• Completion of bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related program
• Minimum of seven years of previous experience in IT operations, and project management, preferably in an academic setting

Health and Safety Requirements

This position is regularly required to work on campus in person. In the event of a public health emergency or a health and safety issue, it is possible that you may be required to work temporarily remotely due to public health orders, directives and/or health and safety requirements. If this happens, you will work with your direct manager to set up a remote work environment including discussing appropriate technology and requirements. You are required to follow all University policies and directives, including to set up a safe and confidential workspace in a remote location and ensure all Carleton property (intellectual and other) is safeguarded. If required to work remotely, you will be notified by your manager when working full time physically onsite will resume.
