Job Purpose

National Grid's U.S. Integrated Design & Deployment Office (IDDO) is dedicated to successfully delivering large-scale technology-enabled transformation. The IDDO ensures that transformation programs are planned, sequenced, and de-risked effectively across our U.S. business. Key Accountabilities

  • Develop integrated portfolio management approach that aligns technology investments / programs to National Grid's strategic priorities and outcomes.
  • Improve how technology investments / programs are prioritized, sequenced, and managed to maximize value delivery.
  • Lead & facilitate program teams to identify, understand & de-risk critical resource constraints, interdependencies (e.g. a delay in one program impacting another program's timeline), and user impacts
  • Lead scenario analysis & quantify the cost/benefit impact of interventions (e.g. changing scope, delaying, accelerating, resequencing)
  • Be accountable for portfolio governance including facilitating collective program decisions and escalations; build and maintain reporting deliverables as needed including status reports, RAID logs, risk registers, etc.
  • Drive collaboration with business operations and program teams through top-notch stakeholder management & communication; plan and lead integrated design sprints and workshops to build alignment across programs
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture teams to improve technical integrations between programs and plan future investments against our technology roadmap
  • Partner with Data Leaders to define and govern program-critical data, and build data maturity across programs
  • Establish and continuously improve scalable, repeatable approaches to portfolio management within a newly formed team


Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (minimum), and graduate degree or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of experience in consulting, large-scale technology planning & program implementation, and / or technology portfolio management
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, defining new processes, governance models, and operating structures where required
• Ability to influence without direct authority, aligning stakeholders and facilitating enterprise decision-making across competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze data, assess complex issues, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and storytelling / communication skills with stakeholders at all levels including C-level leadership
• Experience with design thinking / workshop facilitation
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and data concepts, frameworks, and tools
• Experience in quantifying and tracking benefits realization

Less Important / Not Disqualifiers
• Track record delivering large technology programs or portfolios on time and within budget
• Experience with portfolio management tooling (e.g. ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management)
• Experience with AI tools to support technology delivery
• PMP and other relevant certifications
• MBA
