The Statutory Reporting group within Financial Accounting & Reporting is responsible for the production of the Bank's consolidated quarterly and annual financial statements, earnings press release, as well as certain accounting policy and disclosure issues. The Manager Statutory Reporting plays a vital role in the team being the control point for the Bank's chart of accounts maintenance. The Manager is also responsible for coordinating the production of the earnings press release. In addition, the Manager is responsible for coordinating certain matters related to the Bank's external auditors, such as tracking of audit fees and reporting of audit services to the Bank's audit committee. Financial Accounting & Reporting is a unit within the Chief Accountant's department of Global Finance.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  • Establish and maintain the Bank's global chart of accounts and the related database structure to satisfy the present and foreseeable statutory, financial and management reporting information needs, including mapping the financial information of new acquisitions to the Bank's chart of accounts.
  • Prepare disclosures for assigned notes in the MD&A and financial statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Bank's quarterly and annual report by coordinating the roll-forward of the reports, communicating requirements and deadlines to relevant note-owners and overseeing the proofing and consistency check process.
  • Coordinate certain matters related to the Bank's external audit, including:
    • Update and maintenance of policy related to pre-approved audit services.
    • Prepare quarterly summary of external audit and related services for reporting to the audit & conduct review committee.
    • Prepare the annual audit fee budget for reporting to the audit & conduct review committee and provide support on audit fee matters to units across the Bank
  • Oversee and coordinate the preparation of the Bank's quarterly earnings press release.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and research activities within the department as required.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to one senior analyst that reports into the position.

  • Post secondary education in business, finance or accounting.
  • CPA designation (or working towards the same) is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft EGL and OBI is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and some knowledge of regulatory guidelines applicable to the Bank.
  • Strong communication skills, as the position deals with multiple internal stakeholders, as well as external Audit.
  • Strong Excel skills, experience with the development of macros is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be very well organized; must be accurate yet able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be willing to work overtime during quarter-end periods.
