POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY The Manager of Sourcing is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and managing suppliers that provide critical medical products and services. The Manager of Sourcing develops sourcing strategies that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and budget constraints, while ensuring supply continuity and quality standards. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including clinicians, finance, legal, and logistics to maintain a resilient supply chain, minimize risk, and drive value through supplier performance and contract negotiations.
Manages clinical and non-clinical supplies, equipment or services portfolios in collaboration with clinicians, supply chain, and third-party vendors/group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to drive cost reduction initiatives including regular utilization review and spend analysis.
Provide category expertise and experience to support sourcing initiatives and lead high priority strategic sourcing projects as needed and drives use of best practices and standardization of the strategic sourcing process within the team of Sourcing Specialists.
Assigns strategic sourcing projects to Sourcing Specialists and monitors project performance by regularly reporting results.
Facilitates the use of clinical and non-clinical outcome data and benchmarking to support the selection of ongoing use of selected products or services.
Develops qualitative/quantitative analyses to assess existing and new vendors and reporting platforms for tracking product utilization and cost reduction efforts.
Leads negotiation of key business terms related to savings initiative and ongoing portfolio maintenance.
Works with the GPO to identify cost savings opportunities, program initiatives and best practices.
Supports Value Analysis Committees focused on new product introductions, product trials and overall product/service change initiatives with Value Analysis.
Monitors supplier performance and manages supplier relationships with key suppliers.
Establishes savings tracking methodology, performs savings tracking and reports realized savings on a continual basis.
Directly supervises assigned staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and employee development to ensure achievement of departmental goals and organizational standards.
Identifies large-scale business opportunities and improvement initiatives that maximize profitability.
Facilitates change management with colleagues and key stakeholders throughout the system.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Healthcare Administration or related field.
5 years of strategic sourcing and category management/value analysis or procurement experience with at least 2 years in a hospital setting including in-depth knowledge of strategic sourcing processes. Prior experience with group purchasing organization (GPO) preferred.
Strong knowledge of healthcare purchasing practices, medical supply chain and healthcare purchasing regulations.
Previous management or leadership experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and lead staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and performance evaluations.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of financial analysis and quantitative/qualitative assessment data
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
