Who You AreAs a Manager, Shipping & Logistics, you will play a key role in leading end-to-end logistics, customs, and transportation operations to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective distribution. Build strong carrier and third-party logistics providers partnerships, drive process improvements and cost savings, and lead the Shipping team to deliver operational excellence. You are results-driven, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What You'll Do:- Develop and execute logistics strategies that align with the company's goals and ensure timely and cost-effective product distribution.
- Own the end-to-end customs clearance process for cross-border shipments, maintaining expert knowledge of applicable tariffs, duties, HS classification, country of origin, and valuation requirements. Ensure accurate preparation, retention, and timely submission of all required documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations), proactively resolving issues to prevent border delays.
- Establish, document, implement and maintain standard work, SOPs and process controls for shipping, transportation, customs clearance, cross-border documentation and related logistics activities, identifying process gaps and implementing sustainable, repeatable solutions as business requirements change.
- Ensure all logistics and shipping activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and safety requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, Customs brokers, third-party logistics providers, Freight forwarders and vendors to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor the logistics and shipping team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
- Oversee route planning, load scheduling, and transportation coordination to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs, and track the performance of transportation partners and carriers, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
- Implement cost-saving measures and monitor expenses related to shipping and logistics activities.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions, track key performance indicators, and adjust strategies as needed.
- Lead prompt resolution and root-cause analysis of shipping, customs and cross-border failures, including customs holds, documentation errors, classification discrepancies, carrier failures and delivery issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
What You Bring to DIRTT:- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of proven experience in logistics and shipping management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles, transportation modes, and inventory management.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in logistics and shipping software and tools.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Effective negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
