Who You Are

The Controller is responsible for managing our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and public filings, and providing strategic insights to drive DIRTT's success. The Controller ensures compliance with laws and regulations, including tax and SOX 404. The Controller has a strong understanding of DIRTT's business and participates in decisions and meetings to improve the Company's performance. We have also started a multi year system implementation including a move to Microsoft Business Central with a Go Live date in 2027. The Controller will be instrumental in the success of the system implementation.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance of public filings with SEC and TSX requirements.
  • Develop and oversee the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Create financial forecasts and models to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (SOX 404, CSOX).
  • Work with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and address any audit findings.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to optimize liquidity while minimizing risks.
  • Oversee banking relationships and investments.
  • Key leader and stakeholder in the financial system upgrade.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies that align with the company's long-term objectives.
  • Work with the management team as a trusted business advisor to develop and execute corporate strategy and business plans to ensure that the company attains its short and long-term growth objectives.
  • Assess potential mergers, acquisitions, or investment opportunities.
  • Responsible for tax compliance.
  • Support on periodic risk assessments and annual insurance process.
  • Support on Investor Relation decks, meetings.
  • Strong continuous improvement / transformation mindset looking for opportunities to improve processes within Finance and across the Company.
  • Additional duties may be assigned that are reasonably related to the role. Responsibilities may be adjusted or reprioritized in response to evolving business needs, technology, and organizational priorities, while maintaining alignment with the overall scope, purpose, and responsibilities of the position.
  • Supporting on various operational audits including, ESG reporting, Modern Slavery Act, GSA reporting and audits, CRA audits, IRS audits and GST audits.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in financial management and accounting roles, with a track record of success in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX 404 and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
