Full Job Description
Manager, Security Engineering leads the design and implementation of all technical security solutions across the enterprise. In this people management capacity, this role will guide a team of engineers involved in the design, implementation, and support of technical security solutions. It will collaborate directly with infrastructure divisions and security teams to successfully onboard security applications and services to TMX Group infrastructure, providing strategic direction, resource planning, and operational oversight for the Security Engineering function.

This role reports to: Global Technology Lead, Security Architecture & Engineering

Job Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) - based in Toronto, ON.

Key Accountabilities
  • Direct the design, implementation and lifecycle management of technical security solutions across the enterprise.
  • Partner with infrastructure and internal security teams to successfully onboard new security applications and services.
  • Supervise, manage and coach a team of permanent employees and contractors.
  • Create and maintain a competitive organization by attracting, developing and retaining talent to ensure people with the right skills and motivations are in the right place at the right time.
  • Build a cohesive team and develop structure and direction to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Provide feedback, empowerment and coaching to help others excel in current and future job responsibilities.
  • Identify and evaluate complex business and technology risks, internal controls which mitigate risks and related opportunities for internal control improvement.
  • Align security priorities with the organization's security strategy.
  • Influence external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure they build solutions consistent with the organizations planned policies, programs and architectural and security recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to enhance the customer service experience.


Must Have(s)
  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in information security, with proven experience in a people management or technical team leadership capacity.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of security platforms, application onboarding, and enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to create mutually beneficial outcomes. Demonstrates an ability to work in a cooperative and respectful manner with colleagues, clients, and the wider community.
  • Work Style: Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently as well as part of a dedicated team in a demanding environment.


Nice to Have(s)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential.
  • Additional technical certifications in networking, cloud, and development methodologies.


Salary Range:140K - 150K/year CAD. Please note that the salary range included is a guideline only. The salary offered may vary based on factors, including, but not limited to, the successful candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
