What You'll Do

The Manager, SBA Post Close is responsible for leading and managing all post-closing functions for SBA loans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of all post-closing requirements. This role oversees staff, manages documentation and collateral perfection processes, ensures adherence to SBA SOPs and regulatory requirements, and drives operational efficiency. The Manager plays a critical role in risk mitigation, audit readiness, and staff development within the SBA Post Close function.

Core Contributions

  • Leadership & People Management
    • Supervise and support SBA Post Close Specialists and department personnel across all functional areas.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, including annual reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
    • Recruit, train, and mentor new and existing staff to ensure a highly skilled and cross-trained team.
    • Manage daily workflow, delegate assignments, and develop staff schedules to maintain operational efficiency.
    • Provide leadership coverage during staffing shortages or high-volume periods.
  • Post-Closing Operations
    • Perform and oversee comprehensive boarding package reviews for all closed and funded SBA loans.
    • Provide final review and approval of loan files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Manage tickler systems to track and ensure timely receipt of post-closing items (e.g., UCC filings, title policies, insurance, licenses).
    • Oversee collection and validation of required post-closing documentation.
    • Ensure all loan files are complete, accurate, and maintained in audit-ready condition.
  • Collateral & Documentation Management
    • Oversee processes related to lien filings, title transfers, and collateral perfection for pledged assets (including vehicles).
    • Work closely with SBA Loan Processors to obtain required documentation for lien additions, title transfers, and cost collections.
    • Manage third-party vendor platforms for titling and related services.
    • Maintain strong knowledge of SBA documentation requirements, including final title policies, UCC filings/amendments, and recordable instruments.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), USDA regulations, and all applicable federal and state laws, including BSA and AML requirements.
    • Monitor adherence to internal credit union policies and procedures.
    • Maintain secure handling of sensitive loan documentation, collateral, and member information.
    • Complete required compliance training and ensure team adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Service & Issue Resolution
    • Promote and model a high standard of customer service across the department.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review pipeline status, tickler tracking, and operational priorities.
    • Resolve complex issues related to post-closing documentation, collateral, and loan servicing.
    • Serve as escalation point for internal teams, borrowers, and external partners.
  • Process Improvement & Department Oversight
    • Ensure proper organization of departmental processes and efficient allocation of resources.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain departmental procedures, checklists, and documentation templates.
    • Support withdrawn or declined loan processes in coordination with SBA Loan Processors.
  • Reporting & Project Management
    • Track and manage collection of business licenses and post-closing data to support loan sales and reporting.
    • Prepare reports and provide data analysis for senior management, audit, and regulatory review.
    • Lead or support special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
    • Participate in internal committees and cross-functional initiatives
  • System & Technology
    • Utilize and support systems used for post-closing tracking and loan data management.
    • Assist staff in resolving system-related inquiries and provide guidance on best practices.
    • Ensure accurate data entry and tracking within all relevant platforms.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Coordinate with internal departments and external parties to ensure timely completion of post-closing requirements.
    • Communicate effectively with management, staff, borrowers, and third-party vendors.
    • Provide updates on loan file status, outstanding items, and departmental performance.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Perform account research, process transactions, and resolve discrepancies within authority.
    • Answer calls and respond to inquiries, directing requests appropriately.
    • Maintain current knowledge of SBA SOPs, industry regulations, and best practices through ongoing education.
    • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President, SBA Operations.


Assets You Will Bring

  • Associate's degree in finance, business administration, or related field required or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience with SBA or related area.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of SBA processing documentation/operations and leadership, products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Credit union operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills - ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.


The estimated salary for this role is $106,391.00 to $127,669.00 annually.
