Job Summary:

Manages cardiology services. Oversees and allocates available resources for efficient and effective patient care. Provides input into patient care service decisions and ensures staff is informed and adheres to management and hospital-wide activities. Maintains 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the implementation of hospital philosophies, goals and regulatory standards. Leads by example, setting expectations, participating in developing plans and managing processes that measure the quality of the clinical areas. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing, healthcare, business or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • One year's leadership experience: Preferred


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Radiology Technician (RRT) licensure in state of practice: Preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB): Preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred


Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required


Essential Functions:
  • Supervises cardiology staff and employees. Evaluates potential employee candidates and makes hiring decisions. Keeps directors informed about assignments and workload.
  • Assists and supports directors with cardiology program management. Assists with continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Monitors employee performance to ensure high quality services, in addition to efficient and effective work processes. Implements performance improvement plans and corrective actions for personnel by issuing oral and written reprimands and suspensions, as necessary. Recommends employment terminations, when necessary. Completes employee performance appraisals and authorizes and assigns employee overtime when appropriate. Ensures employees provided with, authorized to and permitted to take meal and rest periods. Supervises cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation staff and employees.
  • Maintains effective written and verbal communications across the company and with patients, which includes producing required reports, forms, manuals and other required information. Meets regularly with facility administrators, clinical staff, referral sources and business contacts.
  • Provides departmental clinical support, as licensure and competency capabilities permit.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
