A brief overview

The Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of the organization's building, infrastructure, utilities, equipment and related items. Ensures organizations goals are met by having facilities and manufacturing machinery are in working condition.

The ideal candidate will understand mechanical, electrical, controls and technical work; have excellent leadership and supervisory skills and will manage and oversee all daily maintenance activities including delegation of tasks, tracking performance, and directing the personnel of all repairs.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues, evaluate facility operations, and recommend improvements, upgrades, or cost-saving initiatives.
  • Lead and manage maintenance engineers, technicians, and support personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations.
  • Perform and oversee timely routine and complex maintenance, repairs, equipment modifications, and system improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support compliance requirements.
  • Forecast, prepare, manage, and monitor the facilities department budget, tracking expenses throughout the fiscal year.
  • Plan and execute facility improvement projects from concept through completion, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Negotiate, manage, and oversee contracts and performance of third-party service providers, including cleaning, waste removal, security, and other facility-related services.
  • Coordinate with department heads to complete repairs, schedule maintenance activities, and minimize production downtime or operational delays.
  • Ensure vendor work is completed accurately, billed correctly, and remains within approved budget constraints.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and provide after-hours, weekend, or holiday support as needed.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, replacements, and equipment changes in accordance with SOPs, cGMP regulations, and applicable standards.
  • Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures to reflect current practices, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient maintenance workspace.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree, or 10 years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma required or
  • Minimum of 8 years of facilities maintenance experience, including experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, refrigeration, utilities, manufacturing equipment, and/or related facility systems required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory / leadership of a team preferred
  • Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and basic chemical safety procedures required
  • Familiar with Environmental Health and Safety regulations
  • Familiarity of standard laboratory practices
  • Demonstrated experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment reliability, and maintenance documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability in preventive maintenance, TPM, capital project development, cost estimation and management preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or related regulated industry preferred.
  • Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Experience with Automation, PLC's, SCADA, Controls, and Vision systems preferred.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with computer and productivity tools, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and function well in a team environment.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, multitask, and perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues.


Base Annual Salary Range: $110,053.60 - 151,323.70

Placement of new hires in these wage ranges is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
