Position PurposeLeads MGE's Renewable Engineering function, providing technical and people leadership for renewable generation, distributed energy resources, battery storage, electric vehicle infrastructure, and related grid-edge technologies. Oversees planning, engineering, execution, and lifecycle support to ensure projects are safe, reliable, cost-effective, customer-focused, and aligned with MGE's clean energy goals.

- Leadership and Team Development: Lead Renewable Engineering staff, set expectations, coach performance, develop technical capability, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Technical Oversight: Provide engineering leadership for renewable generation, DER, battery storage, EV infrastructure, and grid-edge projects, including standards, specifications, design criteria, performance reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Project Execution: Manage utility-scale and customer-facing projects through planning, budgeting, regulatory support, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations support, and closeout.
- Strategy and Regulatory Support: Support long-range planning, technology evaluation, regulatory filings, project approvals, vendor evaluations, contract strategy, and compliance with safety, environmental, interconnection, reliability, and Company requirements.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with internal teams and represent MGE with customers, contractors, consultants, agencies, regulators, community partners, and industry groups.

Education- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or related engineering discipline required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Wisconsin, ability to obtain, advanced degree, or related renewable energy, power systems, or project management training preferred.
Experience- Minimum of ten years of progressive engineering, utility, renewable energy, DER, power systems, or related experience required.
- Five or more years managing complex utility, renewable generation, DER, infrastructure, or capital projects required.
- Experience leading engineers, technical staff, consultants, contractors, or cross-functional project teams preferred.
- Experience with renewable generation, solar, wind, battery storage, EV infrastructure, DER integration, interconnections, SCADA, communications, power systems, regulators, customers, vendors, or contractors preferred.
Work Location- This hybrid role is based at our Madison, WI headquarters. While three days onsite is the minimum, team collaboration and business needs may require additional in-office presence.
