Position SummaryOversees one of three teams that support regulatory accounting at PG&E Utility. With the support of a team of 5 analysts, this includes cost recovery through PG&E's General Rate Case with the California Public Utilities Commission and Transmission Owner Formula Rate with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Further, this role supports the delivery of accurate and timely financial data to support strategic decision making and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will provide oversight and direction to help the team navigate work that can fluctuate and evolve based on outcomes from state and federal commissions. This role requires a leader who can guide priorities, anticipate impacts, communicate effectively, escalate risks timely, and connect day-to-day accounting activities to the broader regulatory, financial, and operational objectives of the company.
Job ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership and Oversight- Provides oversight, direction, and prioritization for a team of analysts supporting regulatory accounting activities.
- Sets goals, prioritizes work, supports development plans, conducts performance reviews, and provides ongoing feedback to direct reports.
Financial Close, Reporting, and Compliance- Manages the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, controls, and variance analysis.
- Oversees preparation of supporting documentation for SEC, FERC, and regulatory filings.
- Delivers accurate and timely financial data to support strategic decision making and financial reporting requirements.
Regulatory Accounting and Commission Outcomes- Coordinates data gathering, accounting strategy, and implementation activities in support of regulatory filings and final commission outcomes.
- Reviews and interprets policies, reporting requirements, rules, regulations, and commission directives.
- Leads the team through accounting assessments by providing guidance on applicable accounting requirements, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Process Improvement- Partners with Directors, Managers, senior management, and cross-functional stakeholders to influence decisions and support effective engagement in regulatory accounting processes.
- Supports strategic planning and decision making by translating accounting and regulatory impacts into clear business insights.
- Identifies and implements process improvements that reduce risk, create efficiencies, and align work streams across the department and company initiatives.
QualificationsMinimum:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 7 years of relevant accounting experience
- Management experience with an ability to manage staff and programs.
Desired:
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience in consulting with employees at all-levels
- CPA-Certified Public Accountant certification
CompensationPG&E provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
- Bay Area Minimum: $126,000
- Bay Area Midpoint: $163,000
- Bay Area Maximum: $200,000
