Job Description:

The Quality Manager is responsible for providing strategic Quality leadership across site, customer, manufacturing, and supply-chain operations. This role manages and develops Quality Assurance teams, ensures compliance with MIL-PRF-19500, ISO9001, AS9100, MIL-PRF-38534 and other industry standards, and drives continual improvement across multiple functions. The position oversees quality systems, customer quality, manufacturing quality, reliability, and process development activities while fostering a culture of operational excellence and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, manage, and develop Quality Engineering, Quality Control, and Inspection teams at the Lawrence , MA site.
  • Mentor, train, and coach quality and manufacturing personnel to build technical capability and high-performance culture.
  • Monitor and implement KPIs, and other key product/process indicators.
  • Report quality performance, risks, and product issues to senior leadership.
  • Interface with the DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) on all certification, qualification, and reporting activities


2. Quality Management System (QMS) & Certifications
  • Develop, maintain, and continually improve the site Quality Management System.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with MIL-PRF-19500, ISO9001, AS9100, MIL-PRF-38534, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Maintain site Quality Management Plan (QMP), Lab Suitability, TRB management, Axapta part data, document control, and records management processes.
  • Coordinate and support internal audits, process audits, and external customer or certification audits.


3. Customer Quality & Failure Analysis
  • Manage customer Failure Analysis requests, including root cause analysis, 8D creation, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer quality concerns, site visits, and quality-related escalations.
  • Engage with customers to gather product feedback and implement control plans to address customer needs.


4. Manufacturing Quality & MRB
  • Support manufacturing operations through in-process inspections, MRB fault analysis, CAPA, and awareness training.
  • Lead root cause investigations and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and evaluate internal production processes to ensure product and process quality.


5. Supplier Quality & Supply Chain Support
  • Conduct first article assessments/test plan reviews.
  • Support evaluation of new materials and products.
  • Manage MRB activities


6. Reliability, NPI & Process Engineering
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including Quality Plans, Key Characteristics (KC), and risk identification (FMEA).
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering to develop and implement new processes, documentation, and personnel training.
  • Manage part qualification activities with the DLA


7. Training & Compliance Programs
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement through communication and training on quality initiatives.


Requirements/Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • Four-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline; or 10+ years equivalent experience in manufacturing or quality.
  • 7-10+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5+ years of supervisory or management experience leading quality teams.


Technical Skills
  • Proven experience applying Six Sigma, 8D, and root cause methodologies.
  • Experience with LEAN tools and strategies (e.g., 6S, waste reduction).
  • Strong understanding of QMS development and maintenance for ISO9001 and AS9100.
  • Experience with MIL-PRF-19500 and MIL-PRF-38534 site certification and product/process qualifications.
  • Full understanding of audit processes: planning, preparation, execution, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Data analysis and statistical aptitude.
  • Experience with ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics Axapta

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
