Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, Responsible Care®, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Establish quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate quality standards and continuous improvement requirements.

Operations Quality Oversight
  • Manage laboratory, quality assurance, and quality control activities supporting chemical production.
  • Review production processes to ensure adherence to quality specifications and process parameters.
  • Monitor key quality metrics and implement corrective actions when performance falls below targets.
  • Lead investigations of non-conforming materials, customer complaints, and process deviations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve product consistency, yield, and process capability.

Regulatory and Customer Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA (as applicable), and other industry-specific requirements.
  • Oversee product documentation, Certificates of Analysis (COA), specifications, and quality records.
  • Serve as the primary quality contact during customer audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Support compliance with chemical safety and product stewardship requirements.

Continuous Improvement
  • Lead root cause analysis activities utilizing tools such as:
    • CAPA
    • Fishbone Diagrams
    • FMEA
    • Six Sigma methodologies
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement projects focused on quality, cost reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Analyze quality trends and utilize statistical methods to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement preventive measures to minimize quality-related risks.

Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop quality engineers, laboratory personnel, and quality specialists.
  • Establish performance objectives and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving teams.

Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Track and report quality KPIs including:
    • Customer complaints
    • Internal defects
    • Cost of poor quality
    • First-pass yield
    • Process capability
    • Audit findings
  • Present quality performance results to plant leadership and senior management.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and data analytics tools to evaluate process performance.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, quality management, or process operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience with quality systems in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading quality improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Quality auditing and compliance management.
  • Laboratory testing and analytical methods.
  • Proficiency in ERP and quality management software.

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $95,000-$125,000.
