The Manager, Purchasing leads a team of Distribution Center (DC) based buyers to ensure seamless week-to-week procurement operations for their site. They are responsible for the on time, in full, and in quality delivery as well as operational spend of ingredients and packaging. They work closely with both site level and HQ (Toronto) key stakeholders, being the primary point of contact for any procurement related activities at the DC.

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for:
  • First point of contact for any procurement-related activities (e.g. including strategic sourcing, logistics, inventory) within the site you are supporting and triage to escalate/delegate as required.
  • Responsible for the purchasing strategy in the DC including supplier performance metrics, ordering strategy, work closely with DC key stakeholders to achieve business targets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong line of communication with the DC, working alongside with Production, Warehousing and Quality Teams to ensure production goes on uninterrupted and collaboratively deliver for high customer performance with the DC.
  • Lead a team of buyers to issue daily/weekly POs and ensure all of our ingredients and packaging arrive on time, in full, in quality at our distribution centres. Being the escalation point for supplier performance discussions.
  • Be accountable for the region's operational spend against planned spend (COGS), lead the investigation on over or under spend on a weekly and month basis, responsible for Purchase to Pay (P2P) process for the responsible DC.
  • Reporting on team performance based on critical KPIs, including on-time delivery, production hand-offs, substitutions, invoice approval, etc.
  • Accountable for team performance and development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and coach the team for developments.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

  • A total of 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, with experience leading a team
  • Bachelors' degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related discipline
  • Quantitative and analytical experience (either through education or professional experience), including expertise with G-Suite, Excel, and procurement systems
  • A strong people leader who can coach and motivate team members to improve performance and develop for future roles
  • A love for solving ambiguous problems under tight deadlines, and using data to drive continuous improvement efforts and relentless prioritization
