Position Summary:

The Public Relations Manager partners with senior leadership to design and execute integrated communications strategies that strengthen organizational reputation, advance public policy priorities, and elevate brand credibility across key audiences. This role blends public relations strategy, media engagement, and stakeholder communications to influence perception, manage risk, and support mission-aligned outcomes. The Public Relations Manager serves as a spokesperson for ACA and acts as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. Our ideal candidate will be a confident public speaker with experience in media relations, crisis management, and executive level communication.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and lead comprehensive public relations and communications strategies aligned with organizational objectives, reputation goals, and public policy priorities.
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson, representing the organization with media, government entities, community partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage media relations, including narrative development, pitch strategy, press outreach, and relationship management across print, broadcast, and digital outlets.
  • Anticipate, assess, and manage emerging issues and reputational risks; lead crisis communications planning and response efforts in partnership with legal and executive leadership.
  • Create and oversee high-quality communications content, including press releases, executive messaging, talking points, speeches, and digital assets.
  • Measure and report on public relations effectiveness using media analytics, KPIs, and impact metrics to inform strategy and demonstrate ROI.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, government affairs, legal, and senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging and integrated communications execution.
  • Lead media briefings, public events, and community engagement initiatives that support brand visibility and advocacy goals.
  • Manage external agencies, consultants, and partners as needed.
  • Stay informed on emerging communications tools, digital platforms, and technologies to continuously improve outreach and engagement.
  • Support budgeting and expense management related to communications initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Affairs, or a related field; advanced education or professional certification (e.g., APR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in public relations, strategic communications, or public affairs, with demonstrated ownership of communications strategy.
  • Proven experience in media relations, issues management, and executive-level communications.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience supporting or leading crisis communications and reputational risk mitigation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Proficiency with digital, social, and earned media channels as part of an integrated communications strategy.
  • Familiarity with government, regulatory, or public policy environments preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard business tools and communications technologies.
