We are looking for you to join our team as Chief of Staff for the Director of Manufacturing Operations based out of San Diego, CA as part of our Navigation, Intelligence & Connectivity leadership team.

The Chief of Staff will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the San Diego Manufacturing Operations organization.  The role includes coordination and seamless integration of activities across the organization. The individual selected for this role will also provide support to executive leadership to ensure execution of MS Sector Operating Objectives.

This position is full time onsite and is located at the Rancho Carmel campus in San Diego, CA.  This position may require 10% travel.  This role reports to the Director, Manufacturing Operations in San Diego. Our expertise is in delivering complex communications solutions to enable modern battlefields and support communications missions.

The successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills, ability to independently identify/coordinate with multiple stakeholders, navigate a matrix organization, and have strong planning and organizational skills.  Further, the successful candidate must be knowledgeable of manufacturing and related functions, scheduling techniques, and continuous improvement strategies, and also have the ability to work with PowerBI, Tableau, and other data management tools to manage dashboards, reporting, and business execution.  As a key member of the NIC manufacturing leadership team, the candidate should have experience in drafting executive communications in various forms and be comfortable engaging directly with leaders/executives from across the Northrop Grumman enterprise.

  • Lead the planning, preparation, coordination and execution of all Manufacturing level internal meetings and engagements
  • Coordinate generation and delivery of key data artifacts
  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and value stream managers
  • Oversee development and execution of internal investment plan and resource planning
  • Assess project issues and develop mitigation plans and strategies to meet productivity, quality, and customer–satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers and value stream managers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of work experience in project/program management or relevant business experience
  • Experience working across multiple functions
  • Experience leading internal projects
  • Experience working dashboards
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Prior manufacturing operations experience
  • Experience with cross campus/sector, or multi-discipline, collaboration
  • Experience working with company and sector operations, policies, procedures and PrOP

Primary Level Salary Range: $159,500.00 - $239,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
