Job Description:

The Production Planner plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program (i.e., product line) units to meet requirements. Advises operations and program management of the status of work in progress & risks to meeting internal master schedule. Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers and quality are critical to the role.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops and implements strategic production planning frameworks and master scheduling methodologies for large, complex program portfolios across the organization
  • Leads and directs a team of experienced production planning professionals; provides hiring, performance management, coaching, and development in accordance with management review and approval
  • Establishes production planning standards, policies and best practices that drive measurable improvements in operational performance and business results
  • Leads large, cross-functional project initiatives of strategic importance to optimize production flow, capacity utilization, and supply chain integration
  • Establishes short-term operational plans (less than 1 year) with measurable contribution toward the achievement of functional results; may manage processes or projects within defined budgets
  • Monitors and analyzes enterprise-wide production performance metrics; identifies systemic issues and implements significant process improvements across multiple functions
  • Drives inventory optimization strategies and working capital improvements across the organization; establishes standards for floor stock management
  • Communicates with senior leadership and external stakeholders on matters of strategic importance to production operations; may conduct briefings with senior leaders
  • Leads cross-functional project teams to implement changes to production planning policies, practices, processes, and approaches.
  • Conducts extensive root cause analysis on complex, undefined production planning problems that span multiple business areas and functions; develops innovative solutions and new concepts
  • Provides subject matter expertise, guidance, and training to production planning professionals across the company; reviews work products of direct reports who exercise latitude and independence
  • Provides measurable input into new products, processes, standards and operational plans that have impact on the achievement of overall functional or business results
  • Ability to obtain US Government clearance


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment either as a production planner, master scheduler, demand planner, and/or supply planner
  • Experience using an ERP system with MRP & MPS capabilities.
  • Microsoft Office skills, advance-level proficient in Excel (e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables), Power BI and demonstrated ability to create sophisticated reporting tools, KPI dashboards, and executive presentations that drive business decisions
  • Experience Trackstar Front End, Cognos Reports, and MTS systems
  • APICS Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification / Training
