Full Job Description
As the Production Manager, you will hold an important role in the Hagerstown Plant Organization. You will report directly to a second line managerial level referred to as an Area Manager. You will support the long term success of the Volvo Group and Hagerstown by providing leadership. In addition, you will be supporting the short and mid-term activities for your function and the plant to meet production objectives. You will be responsible for safety, quality, delivery, continuous improvement, environment, people development and cost of the production process as well as cascading and involving your team members in the business objectives. What you will do • Ensure a safe work environment and behaviors for all team members using a methodical approach to risk identification, mitigation and competence development • Inspire your team to work together to reach set safety, quality, delivery and financial targets by leading and coaching your production team. Deliver the agreed and committed overall objectives for the production area of responsibility • Leverage production and performance data to make informed decisions that drive efficiency, improve quality, and reduce downtime • Inspire and influence through a communicative leadership style with your team and cross functional • Demonstrate and coach to Volvo's Values (Customer Success, Trust, Passion, Change, Performance) and Code of Conduct • Assess performance, competencies, and flexibility of employees within the department and initiate appropriate training, counselling, or corrective action to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the employees • Understand and apply the principles of lean manufacturing. Lead and coach the techniques and methodologies of the Volvo Production System (VPS). • Anticipate and react to any issues that could affect performance. Secure problems are reported, root causes identified and appropriate actions plans implemented. Initiate and follow up on improvement projects. • Maintain accurate time and attendance records for all departmental employees; initiate and record corrective actions to address attendance issues • Understand the collective bargaining unit agreements and collaborate with union officials At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company's growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000 - $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
