Job Description Summary
The Manager of Portfolio Management (Execution Focus) enables day-to-day portfolio execution by turning portfolio priorities, guidance, and governance decisions into accurate, decision-ready outputs. Reporting to the Senior Director, Portfolio Management, this role works closely with director-level portfolio leads across both in-house and Business Development portfolios and acts as the execution backbone of the portfolio function. The role is accountable for execution readiness, follow-through, and efficiency-driving material productivity gains by replacing manual work with scalable, AI-enabled processes (for example, using the Copilot interface and capabilities). The role is expected to proactively identify risks, data gaps, and decision blind spots, and to flag options to portfolio leadership. This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities

Position Location:

This position will be located at the Princeton, NJ US Headquarters site.

Our Sandoz flexible hybrid working approach allows US office-based employees to work up to 50% of their monthly workday remotely. This role will not have the ability to be located remotely.

Major Accountabilities / Your Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Portfolio Governance & Execution Readiness (Enable Timely Decisions): Prepare governance-ready materials for portfolio forums by building slides, validating data, and ensuring clear decision framing. Deliver complete, accurate materials on time with minimal rework.
  • Portfolio Forecasting & Change Control Support (Maintain Integrity): Maintain portfolio forecasts and scenarios across internal and BD assets by updating our internal pipeline system. Clearly summarize changes and implications to support timely governance decisions.
  • Business Development Portfolio Enablement (Support Inorganic Execution): Support BD-led assets by coordinating inputs, maintaining trackers, and reflecting deal and development changes in portfolio forecasts and materials as opportunities progress.
  • Process, Tools & AI Enablement (Deliver Step-Change Efficiency): Build and improve templates, dashboards, automation, and AI-enabled workflows on product evaluations that reduce manual effort, rework, and cycle time. Convert repetitive work into scalable, low-touch processes.
  • Operating Rhythm Management (Keep the Portfolio Running): Manage portfolio timelines, data refreshes, and deliverables across the internal pipeline, BD funnel, and governance activities to ensure readiness ahead of decision points.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination (Get Work Done in a Matrix): Coordinate inputs across R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, Finance, Supply, and BD teams. Resolve data gaps or inconsistencies early to prevent downstream delays.
  • Execution Accountability & Follow-Through (Close the Loop): Track decisions, actions, owners, and timelines from portfolio forums and ensure updates are reflected consistently in materials, forecasts, and next steps.
  • Special Projects & Priority Analyses (Deliver on Demand): Execute priority analyses or execution-focused portfolio initiatives as assigned, delivering clear, practical outputs with minimal oversight.
  • Risk Identification and Escalation (Protect Decision Quality): Proactively surface timeline, data integrity, or cross-functional execution risks that could compromise portfolio readiness or decision quality

  • Governance Readiness & Quality: Delivers complete, accurate, decision-ready materials for portfolio governance forums, with clear framing, validated data, and zero rework.
  • Forecast Integrity & Responsiveness: Maintains high-confidence, up-to-date portfolio forecasts that respond rapidly to new information, scenario changes, and leadership requests.
  • Execution Predictability: Ensures portfolio deliverables, analyses, and timelines are reliably met, reducing surprises and execution variability.
  • Process & Tool Impact: Improves portfolio execution outcomes through standardized processes, fit-for-purpose tools, and measurable productivity gains.
  • AI-Driven Efficiency Gains: Replaces manual, repetitive work with AI-enabled workflows to materially reduce cycle time and analyst effort.
  • Leadership Support: Extends Director and Executive Director effectiveness by ensuring execution readiness, proactive issue surfacing, and seamless follow-through on decisions

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $118,500 - 220,100SD/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/26 through 12/31/26, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
