POSITION OVERVIEW


BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Manager, Portfolio Management, you will support the ongoing management of the Bank’s loan portfolio by processing service requests and completing annual reviews throughout the loan lifecycle. You will analyze complex credit and portfolio matters, recommend solutions that align with Bank policies, and work closely with Business Development teams to support the growth and success of Canadian businesses. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Manage outstanding file requirements in accordance with BDC audit policies, processes, and procedures by ensuring documentation is complete, conditions are met, and required approvals and signatures are obtained.
  • Complete annual portfolio reviews, validate portfolio profitability, monitor client borrowing activity, and identify opportunities for additional financing or consulting services.
  • Review financial statements, perform financial analyses, and assess client risk ratings.
  • Proactively identify and address risk indicators, including arrears, risk deterioration, and declining financial performance.
  • Evaluate high-risk and complex service requests and recommend solutions to restructure agreements, reduce risk exposure, and mitigate losses in collaboration with Credit teams, business centres, and internal stakeholders.
  • Authorize, decline, or recommend loan amendments and service requests within delegated authority levels while ensuring thorough analysis and due diligence.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with business centre personnel and internal colleagues to support consistent policy application and shared objectives.
  • Coach, mentor, and share expertise with team members.
  • Stay informed about regional economic trends and assess potential impacts on BDC clients.
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes to credit policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry trends that may affect portfolio management activities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Account Manager in the banking sector.
  • Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and conducting financial analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate complex financial structures and assess credit risk.
  • Ability to identify issues, exercise sound judgment, and develop proactive solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environments and priorities.
