About this position

The Manager, Patient Registration is responsible for providing leadership of all activities related to the patient access functions of patient registration, patient financial advocacy, insurance verification, benefits verification, obtaining and validating of authorization including prior authorization, payer notifications, and point of service collections. The position provides oversight of hospital-wide daily operations related to customer registration including the Family Birth Center (FBC) and Emergency Care Center (ECC) Patient Flow Assistants (PFAs) to ensuring accurate and quality workflow.

Responsibilities include short and long-term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, quality monitoring and improvement, and evaluation of policies and procedures to ensure delivery of quality customer registration and customer satisfaction. This position is also responsible for minimizing financial risk to the organization by collecting comprehensive and accurate demographic and financial data to optimize timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.

Education

Experience
• Two or more years' management/supervisory experience in customer admissions, business office, etc. preferred
• Requires understanding of third-party billing and collection processes with particular focus on billing requirements, contractual arrangement, utilization review guidelines, and certification/authorization processes.
• Effective leader with mentoring skills necessary to support the department and promote team member development, strategic orientation; superior judgment and disciplined decision-making approach, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational, project, time management, multi-tasking, prioritizing, oral and written communication skills.

• Requires knowledge of healthcare reimbursement concepts including in-depth knowledge of reimbursement and the regulatory environment to ensure compliance with State regulations regarding patient and insurance billing.
• Requires detailed knowledge of MGH's revenue cycle processes including the Epic systems, scheduling, registration, financial clearance, and billing and has demonstrated proficiency in multiple payor's insurance verification and precertification guidelines.

Salary Range: L06 ($34.95 - $54.17), based on experience
