Job Description:

Manager of Specifications

Frostburg State University (FSU) seeks applications for an exempt full-time Manager of Specifications. Position includes the University of Maryland benefits package which includes annual leave, holidays, personal, and sick leave; tuition remission; excellent health and life insurance, and retirement plans.

Responsibilities: Develops, plans, and bid documents for the University's facility/auxiliary and capital construction projects. The Manager of Specifications will be responsible for managing all aspects of new construction and renovation projects, preparing budget estimates and reports, preparing project and contract documents, overseeing outside design professionals, and preparation of construction documents. This position will also manage the project team throughout both the design and construction to include monitoring the contractor's progress, quality of work, materials compliance, coordinating engineering problem areas with contractors, reviewing engineering drawings for constructability and design, and preparing various construction related permitting documents. Position is required to manage and coordinate projects from conception to completion. Position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities for Planning and Construction.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in architecture or civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, or related field. Must be proficient and current in AutoCAD for plan preparations. This position requires a minimum of three years or relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Five years of relevant work experience. Experience with design, creating specifications, COMAR, OSHA, and commercial construction and construction management.
