Full Job Description
The Manager of Quality/Infection Control RN directs and coordinates the infection control program in the hospital. The designated person will be given the opportunity to implement and enforce the surveillance, Prevention and control program policies, coordinate all infection prevention and control within the hospital and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions. While simultaneously being responsible for the direction of the Quality Assurance Department. Assures that the facility provides high quality, cost effective medical care service to its patients. Assures that the facility is compliant with the regulations of all Federal, State, local, and other regulatory bodies with jurisdiction over its clinical activities. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 30 Performs annual infection control risk assessment and surveillance plan along with mid-year evaluation of the plan. 30 Plans and facilitates the monthly Infection Control Committee (ICC) meeting. 30 Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology. 30 Reports infection surveillance, prevention and control information to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation. 30 Participates in the development of special studies designed to identify unusual epidemic situations or to evaluate the impact of new products, equipment or delivery of patient care. Reports results to Infection Control Committee and other appropriate departments and/or committees. 30 Participates on committees as a subject matter expert, i.e., product value analysis, environment of care, emergency preparedness, etc. 30 Participates in quality/performance improvement and patient safety activities related to infection prevention and control (e.g., mini root cause analysis for HAIs (healthcare associated infections), failure mode and effects analysis, plan-do-study-act). 30 Performs surveillance activities using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) definitions. 30 Integrates surveillance activities across health care settings (e.g., ambulatory, home health, long term care, acute care). 30 Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. 30 Organize process improvement committees on a clinical product line basis and provides staff support services to such committees. 30 Functions as a resource individual to assist with all Hospital departments' process improvement activities. 30 Prepares and coordinates Peer Review Committee functions. 30 Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 30 Bachelors in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or other related field required. 30 Must have Prior Nursing experience. 30 2 years in quality leadership role. Familiarity with nursing and other patient care procedures. Ability to organize information, people and resources. Strong writing and presentation skills. Advanced computer literacy required. Position requires proficiency in the scientific approach and currency in Joint accreditation requirements and processes, Core Measures, and SCIP. Understanding the principles of continuous quality improvement and performance improvement required. Understanding of OSHA requirement. Five (5) years clinical experience. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION 30 Registered Nurse Florida License 30 BLS from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross 30 Certified Infection Control (CIC) required within two years of hired. SKILLS/ABILITIES 30 Self-directed and judicial in actions. 30 Analytical skills for evaluating data. 30 Decision making skills required for planning and implementation. 30 Good reasoning and judgment skills necessary for evaluation of nursing and for safety of patients and self 30 Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. 30 Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with, staff, visitors, and patients. 30 Ability to manage time, organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards, and cope with professional stress. 30 Computer skills for Windows and other software programs. 30 Proficiency in the scientific approach and currency in Joint accreditation requirements and processes, Core Measures and SCIP. 30 Understanding of OSHA regulations 30 Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
