Primary Function
In this Manager of Engineering Project Management role (Manager of EPM), you will lead and oversee engineering-focused project management activities within Dashiell's Engineering department. This role is responsible for ensuring engineering deliverables are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality and client requirements.
The Manager of EPM will partner closely with engineering management, discipline leads, project managers, project controls, and operations teams to drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement in engineering project execution. This position is based in Dashiell's Houston office - 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
• Lead and supervise engineering project managers and/or engineering project coordinators supporting design and engineering-only or EPC projects.
• Establish clear expectations for the EPM team to manage scope adherence, schedule performance, budget tracking, quality control process, and client communication within engineering projects.
• Oversee planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of engineering deliverables across multiple active projects.
• Partner with discipline engineering leads to ensure proper resource allocation and workload balancing.
• Support development and maintenance of engineering schedules aligned with overall project milestones.
• Collaborate with Engineering Management to monitor engineering budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
• Communicate with the Dashiell PM all critical project information to assist inter-department alignment.
• Identify and proactively manage and report on risks related to engineering scope, design changes, and client-driven revisions.
• Ensure engineering documentation, reviews, and approvals are completed in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
• Support coordination between engineering and construction teams to ensure constructability and field alignment.
• Coordinate project kickoff meetings, client progress reviews, and internal performance discussions.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management to engineering project management staff.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to engineering workflows, standards, and project management tools.
• Assist in development of departmental KPIs and reporting dashboards.
• Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Civil preferred), Construction Management, or related technical field required
• 8+ years of experience in engineering project management within power delivery, utility, EPC, or industrial environments.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or project management personnel.
• Strong understanding of engineering design lifecycle for substation, transmission, or medium- and high-voltage projects.
• Experience managing engineering scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple projects.
• Familiarity with project controls principles, forecasting, and performance tracking.
• Ability to interpret contracts, scope documents, and client technical specifications.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering disciplines, project management, and field teams.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and attention to detail.
• PMP certification preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to occasionally stand and walk within an office environment.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Field / Site Visit Requirements
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces typical of substation construction sites.
• Ability to navigate active construction environments, including stairs, ramps, and temporary walkways.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing, and hearing protection as needed.
• Working extended hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required periodically.
