Job Summary and Qualifications

The person is to coordinate patient care activities and clinical operations in the Emergency Department. They are to collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team including physician and ancillary services to deliver quality health care.

  • You will coordinate staffing on a shift by shift basis.
  • You will be responsible for scheduling of personnel in the department. Schedule completed two weeks prior to start date.
  • You will manage day to day operations within the department.
  • You will ensure adequate supplies are available for staff.
  • You will ensure all equipment is accounted for and functioning on a daily basis.
  • You will actively participate in the Regional Advisor Council's (RAC) Committees as assigned.
  • You will plan, develop, implement and evaluate trauma quality improvement activities on a monthly basis in coordination with Trauma / Education Coordinator.
  • You will review department and trauma policies on an annual basis. Develop new policies as required or needed.
  • You will plan, develop, implement and evaluate to maintain current trauma certification in coordination with Trauma / Education Coordinator.
  • You will be knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Core Measures in the Emergency Department (evidence based best demonstrated practice).
  • You will be knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Premium Credit (best demonstrated practice).
  • You will practice four hours of clinical/bedside nursing a week.
  • You will accompany Level 1 Trauma patients transported to RETGH in accordance with physician orders.
  • You will participate and attend all unit meetings.
  • You will share "call" with the Emergency Department Director and Trauma / Education Coordinator.
  • You will serve as staff and/or charge nurse when needed.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
