Description

The Manager of Desktop Support and Operations is a full-time, in-person role reporting directly to the CIO and leads the extremely capable Desktop Support team. The ideal applicant will have several years of personnel and IT management experience, with demonstrated technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Daily operational oversight

  • Lead and mentor the Desktop Support team, providing individualized support, direction, and leadership through example
  • Prioritize team efforts, oversee Service Desk tickets, and maintain communication and schedules to ensure consistent coverage
  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for executive staff inquiries
  • Respond to end-user IT security issues and contribute to overall information security efforts
  • Manage IT-related building maintenance requests, vehicle upkeep, and workspace assignments


Asset and vendor management

  • Oversee fleet management, inventory, and lifecycle
  • Serve as the liaison for IT vendors, primarily for printing and desktop software
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of software primarily for lab and desktop environments and internal tools


Strategic planning and governance

  • Work with the IT Administration team to develop a zero-based budget each year in support of Desktop operations as well as capital projects
  • Lead end-user computing, printing, inventory, and security projects, working with other IT and campus teams
  • Help develop, implement, and monitor policy and standards affecting Bard's computing environments

Compensation: $81,000-$85,000 annually

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
