Summary:

General description: The Manager of Data Analytics is responsible for supporting data analysis within schools, including supporting, developing, and/or implementing professional development to support the district's data analytics program(s) and their integration into data inquiry cycles. The Manager of Data Analytics also supports key student data collection, reporting, and special projects; and supports schools during state assessments (MCAS) as the district coordinator.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Minimum of 5 years of experience in public administration and data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Prior experience developing and facilitating adult learning in both large group and one-on-one contexts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite skills required
  • Experience with federal and state assessments
  • Experience with SPSS or other statistical software


Desired:
  • Master's degree in education, business, or public administration preferred
  • Prior experience managing relationships with external vendors preferred
  • Experience with relational databases preferred


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):

1. Data Analytics

Coordinates, plans, and implements professional development for district and school staff for data analytics platform(s), including developing materials.

Works with the Chief of Data and Research to identify areas for further development on data analytics platforms.

Manages relationships with vendors (including but not limited to data source connections in collaboration with IT, alterations to existing dashboards, development of new dashboards, and troubleshooting issues identified by school and district staff).

Works collaboratively with the Director of MTSS to understand data analytics needs within elementary schools and implements solutions to support those needs.

Works collaboratively with curriculum coordinators and department heads to identify data analytics needs by level and works with vendors to implement solutions.

Supports leadership (both school and district) in utilizing data analytic(s) platforms to support students and educational programs.

2. Support District Information and Assessment Needs

Supports the preparation and submission of all required reports for State and Federal compliance, coordinating and verifying data collection, and works with the Chief of Data and Research to assemble teams when necessary to coordinate report completion.

Coordinates communication between the Central Office and other departments for data collection for Federal, State, and departmental reports and assessments.

Responds to inquiries as assigned from central administration, city administration, principals, and others, including various State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education personnel regarding information included in departmental reports and general school department information, as well as assessment information.

Responds to inquiries as assigned from central administration, principals, and curriculum coordinators regarding requests for analysis of data.

Works closely with the Information Technology and Student Services staff on the current system of reporting to ensure data integrity.

Coordinates training programs as needed to provide school staff with the ability to comply with reporting requirements and high level data accuracy.

Collaborates with the schools in productive dialogue, conducting training as needed, to improve and make more efficient both student information collection and assessment data collection, as well as using accountability system data to inform instruction and support school data teams.

Assists school and district staff in utilizing and understanding data systems available from the state.

3. Guide administration of federally mandated student assessments

Works with schools and school-based assessment coordinators to plan for and properly administer federally mandated assessments (i.e., MCAS).

Manages the process of distributing student assessment reports from federally mandated assessments to families and schools.

4. Prepare Technical Reports

Coordinates inter-departmental and school-level data collection for Federal and State reports and technical research reports.

Analyzes data using Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables, as well as other tools, for the creation of statistical reports and presentations.

Utilizes relational database queries in order to export data and to analyze and complete data submissions, typically in flat file format for electronic upload.

Conducts data analyses as required for standard reports, as well as additional reports that may be required by the Superintendent.

Presents results of reports and analyses as needed.

Attends related state and professional meetings as requested.

5. Other Duties

Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Data and Research.
