The OpportunityWhitecap Resources is a leading Western Canadian oil and natural gas producer, marketing its natural gas into diversified markets across North America. As the fifth-largest natural gas producer in Western Canada, Whitecap is well positioned to advance its long-term growth strategy by diversifying sales markets and pursuing new commercial opportunities, including global LNG.
We are seeking a commercially minded Manager, Natural Gas Marketing, to help shape and execute this strategy. In this leadership role, you will advance new market opportunities, strengthen operational excellence, and mentor a growing team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You Will Do- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team in a fast-paced marketing environment.
- Develop and execute strategic plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, with a focus on measurable results.
- Monitor regulatory developments to identify risks and opportunities
- Ensure adequate transportation capacity for egress to align with development plans
- Identify and evaluate market opportunities that support Whitecap's long-term natural gas diversification strategy.
- Prepare clear, comparative analyses to support executive-level decisions on commercial opportunities.
- Proactively identify, assess, and communicate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Review contractual commitments and support ongoing compliance with commercial obligations.
- Manage counterparty credit risk in accordance with Whitecap's Risk Management and Counterparty Credit Policy.
What You Bring- The confidence and commercial judgment to negotiate effectively with third parties.
- At least 15 years of directly related natural gas marketing experience.
- Working knowledge of natural gas pipeline tariffs, transportation processes, and market practices.
- Established relationships across the natural gas marketing industry and stakeholder community.
- A self-starting, solutions-focused approach to launching initiatives and addressing complex business challenges.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commercial judgment and financial acumen.
- Exceptional stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to navigate conflict constructively across business areas and levels of seniority.
