The Role

Contribute to the overall success of the Middle Office ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The incumbent will be responsible for a broad array of operational duties including, but not limited to, Trade Life Cycle support, trade administration, onboarding and enablement, compliance monitoring, reconciliation, and client services.

The incumbent will also work closely with the MO Management Team in the identification, initiation, research and development of process solutions across the MO business lines, with the intent of improving overall operational efficiency/effectiveness while ensuring that compliance, risk and regulatory issues are adhered to.

  • Operating independently, identifying and resolving issues with minimal oversight. Capable and comfortable operating within tight deadlines, able to make quick decisions, and able to quickly learn about the business/issues, without necessarily having any prior direct experience with the subject matter.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Ensuring clear, timely and accurate communication to internal and external clients as well as cross-departmental collaboration to ensure customer needs are met in a seamless and compliant manner.
  • Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills capable of managing, leading, and coaching/training a team of employees.
  • Champions a culture of continuous operational improvement by independently resolving highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs across MO with a specific focus on creating tangible / measurable operational efficiencies. This involves opportunity identification, preparing proposals, defining business requirements and processes, developing, testing, conversion and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and securing consensus and co-operations from users and senior management.
  • Performing daily operational activities in support of GBM business lines with a focus on trade life cycle management, Trade Control, and Client Service. This support includes but is not limited to supporting the complete life cycle of a transaction from inception to termination, including settlements along the way. The trade support will span a number of specific functions from settlement and confirmation support, compression activities, trade novation, corrections and problem resolution.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct

  • Post-graduate experience in industry or academia in in the areas of capital markets, finance and banking and/or process improvement, business analysis and solution implementation
  • Solid knowledge/experience in banking/capital markets operations with a focus on fixed income derivatives, interpretations of ISDA & confirmations, complex derivative calculations and the ability to research and stay up-to-date on market events.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analytical problem solving and process engineering techniques (i.e. process mapping and analysis techniques)
  • Strong technical abilities including knowledge of basic software engineering principles (experience in SQL, VBA, Access, Excel preferred), and a sound understanding of operational processes
