The Manager, Medical Affairs serves as a clinical, scientific, and operational leader responsible for supporting the development, commercialization, and lifecycle management of medical devices and healthcare solutions. This role combines clinical expertise, Medical Affairs strategy, evidence generation, product support, and operational execution to ensure the organization delivers clinically relevant, evidence-based solutions that improve patient care and healthcare outcomes.

The Manager, Medical Affairs provides medical and device subject matter expertise across product development, clinical evaluation, risk management, evidence generation, medical education, and post-market activities. In addition, this role supports key Medical Affairs operations including project management, budget oversight, vendor management, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

Success in this role requires the ability to translate clinical insights into actionable business and product strategies while effectively managing multiple projects and stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing:

Clinical and Scientific Leadership

• Serve as the clinical and medical device subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders regarding product development, implementation, training, risk assessment, complaint review, and lifecycle management.
• Provide accurate, balanced, and timely clinical expertise to cross-functional teams including Clinical Research, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, Legal, and Commercial organizations.
• Support development and maintenance of risk assessments, clinical evaluations, quality standards, and design history documentation.
• Evaluate clinical evidence, literature, and emerging healthcare trends to inform product development and strategic decision-making.
• Translate voice-of-customer feedback and real-world clinical experience into actionable product and business recommendations.
• Identify unmet clinical needs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that improve patient care and healthcare delivery.
• Support post-market surveillance activities, complaint evaluations, and benefit-risk assessments as needed.

Medical Affairs Strategy and Evidence Generation

• Support development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies that align with organizational goals and portfolio priorities.
• Collaborate with Clinical Research, HEOR/RWE, Clinical Operations, and external partners to support evidence-generation initiatives.
• Support investigator-initiated studies, research collaborations, registries, publication activities, and scientific congress programs.
• Contribute to the interpretation and dissemination of clinical evidence supporting product safety, effectiveness, and value.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant literature, clinical practice guidelines, and standards of care impacting supported product portfolios.

Training and Medical Education

• Develop and deliver scientific, clinical, and medical device training programs using live, virtual, written, and e-learning formats.
• Provide education and support to internal teams regarding disease states, clinical workflows, product applications, and healthcare trends.
• Support customer-facing education, product launches, implementation programs, and controlled market introductions.
• Develop educational materials that support appropriate product adoption and clinical best practices.

Medical Affairs Operations and Program Management

• Manage and coordinate Medical Affairs projects, timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional activities.
• Support annual Medical Affairs planning, portfolio reviews, resource forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
• Facilitate governance activities, project tracking, action item management, and leadership reporting.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely execution of Medical Affairs programs and deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, resource utilization, and process efficiency.

Budget, Vendor, and Contract Management

• Support development and management of Medical Affairs budgets, forecasts, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, research organizations, and service providers.
• Coordinate contract execution, purchase orders, statements of work, invoice processing, and budget tracking.
• Partner with Finance and Procurement teams to ensure efficient management of Medical Affairs investments and resources.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Compliance

• Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships across Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, HEOR/RWE, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Global Patient Safety, R&D, Marketing, Legal, and Commercial teams.
• Ensure Medical Affairs activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, applicable regulations, and industry standards.
• Support review and approval processes for scientific materials, educational programs, and research activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support inspection-ready practices when applicable.

Reporting and Analytics

• Develop and maintain dashboards, project updates, and operational metrics to support business decision-making.
• Prepare leadership presentations, program summaries, budget reports, and strategic updates.
• Monitor project performance and identify risks, opportunities, and resource requirements.
• Use data and insights to drive continuous improvement within the Medical Affairs organization.

What you'll bring:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a clinical, scientific, healthcare, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or related healthcare industries.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience supporting budgets, contracts, vendors, and operational processes.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require (up to 30-50%).

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced clinical or scientific degree (NP, PA, MD/DO, DNP, or equivalent).
• Active clinical licensure in good standing preferred.
• Prior Medical Affairs experience in the medical device, diagnostics, digital health, or healthcare technology industry.
• Experience supporting evidence generation, publications, investigator-sponsored research, and scientific communications.
• Experience with financial management systems, procurement platforms, and vendor oversight.
• PMP certification or comparable project management training preferred.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000.00 to $176,000.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location.
