Full Job Description
Job Summary
This position is responsible for managing the Design Engineering Mechanical /Structural department to offer design services that supports maintaining the design bases and licensing bases (configuration control for the NPP). This design organization maintains consistency and standards in all design documents and for changes to the plant both temporary and permanent. In addition to modifications, the Mechanical/Structural group supports the plant with engineering evaluations for work order execution and leads the 50.59 and 72.48 program. The manager is the focal point for interfacing with regulators, contractors and industry groups.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
  • Non-emergent Engineering Changes and outage modifications.
  • Maintains the Plant design and licensing basis including Subject Matter Experts to support Design and licensing including 10CFR 50.59 and 72.48.
  • HELB/MELB/Flooding Program
  • Calculations update for design basis management
  • Owner's Acceptance Reviews for Projects' Engineering Changes
  • Leads or Supports design engineering changes/projects and Task Teams
  • Resolves Condition Reports and addresses Operating Experience
  • Response to Regulatory inquiries on licensing basis.
  • Directs the activities of the individual contributors within the group
  • Gas Void Size Calculations
  • Allocates personnel and budget to complete engineering activities and meet department/site goals
  • Provides timely resolution and recommendations to technical problems to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation


Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited school - Mechanical Engineering focus preferred.
  • Prior experience managing people.
  • An advanced knowledge of Mechanical/Structural design.
  • Design Engineering experience with proficiency in the Design Control Process at a nuclear Facility.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear plant processes, programs, and procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear codes, standards and regulations, including licensing knowledge at a Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Knowledge of nuclear policies and guidelines for engineering organizations, including Chapter 15 nuclear safety analysis preferred
  • Professional Engineering registration preferred
  • Plant Certification or SRO Certification/License preferred.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to the nuclear facility.
