Full Job Description
Make an impact with our Life Insurance Underwriting & Policy Service team as a Manager. The Manager, Life Insurance Specialist is responsible for delivering strategic insurance solutions to clients, supporting advisors and partners, and driving growth within the firm's insurance practice specifically in BC. This role combines technical expertise with relationship management, business development within the firm, and leadership responsibilities, ensuring clients receive tailored, compliant, and value-driven life insurance strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare customized life insurance strategies, including permanent, term, and living benefit solutions, in support of the partner's recommendations and clients' financial planning objectives.
  • Conduct insurance needs analyses, policy reviews, and coverage assessments to identify planning opportunities and support tailored recommendations.
  • Prepare insurance illustrations, advanced market concepts, and technical analyses, including insured retirement programs, insured annuities, immediate financing arrangements (IFAs), split-dollar arrangements, and other advanced insurance strategies.
    • In force tracking of existing life insurance business and leveraged arrangements.
  • Prepare product comparisons using carrier software, Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools.
  • Track and monitor in-force insurance strategies and prepare updated illustrations and comparisons as required.
  • Prepare banking applications for insurance lending strategies, coordinating with lenders and ensuring all financial documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Participate in client meetings (when required) by providing technical expertise, supporting presentations, and assisting with complex insurance discussions.
  • Design and prepare customized presentation materials, reports, and supporting documentation for client meetings.
  • Coordinate all aspects of meeting preparation and follow-up for insurance planning engagements.
  • Update insurance summaries, obtain in-force illustrations, policy information, and other supporting documentation.
  • Assemble meeting materials, including corporate documents, reports, and other client-specific information.
  • Complete post-meeting documentation, including meeting notes, CRM updates, follow-up tasks, and servicing requirements.
  • Manage complex in-force policy servicing, including ownership changes, beneficiary updates, banking changes, policy modifications, and other ongoing client service requests (joint effort with senior associates)
  • Liaise with insurance carriers, wholesalers, underwriters, lenders, and external professional advisors to facilitate policy servicing, resolve complex issues, and support advanced planning strategies.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and organized electronic and physical client records while ensuring documentation meets internal compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate client information, activities, servicing requests, and follow-up items within the firm's CRM.
  • Prepare engagement letters, privacy agreements, commission tracking, time tracking, and year-end reporting.
  • Draft client correspondence, meeting summaries, recommendations, and technical memoranda to support ongoing client relationships.
  • Collaborate with advisors, analysts, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, client-focused insurance solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert by providing technical guidance and education to advisors and internal team members on insurance products, planning strategies, carrier practices, and servicing procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation standards, and service processes to enhance efficiency and client experience.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment while demonstrating accountability, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Remain current on industry developments, legislative and regulatory changes, and carrier updates to ensure recommendations and servicing activities remain accurate and compliant.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, licensing standards, firm policies, and industry best practices.
  • Support regional and national growth objectives aligned with the firm's strategic priorities.


Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in life insurance, wealth planning, or financial services, with a strong focus on advanced insurance planning and in-force policy management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting entrepreneurs, private enterprise, and high-net-worth clients with complex insurance and estate planning strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of permanent life insurance, term insurance, living benefits, and advanced insurance concepts, including insured retirement programs, immediate financing arrangements (IFAs), split-dollar arrangements, and insurance lending strategies.
  • Strong understanding of tax and estate planning concepts as they relate to life insurance solutions.
  • Experience preparing technical insurance illustrations, policy analyses, and client presentation materials using carrier software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex files simultaneously while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively with insurance carriers, underwriters, wholesalers, accountants, lawyers, and other professional advisors.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional client correspondence, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) designation required.
  • Licensed in BC

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $140,000. Compensation is determined based on individual skills and relevant experience.
