Desert View Hospital is a 25-bed, acute care hospital set in a rural community. Desert View provides safe and competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. We provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Job Description: Responsible for direction and coordination of the personnel in all aspects of Clinical Laboratory services at one of the VHS hospitals. This position is responsible for coordinating chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology and blood bank operational functions. This includes but is not limited to the monitoring test reporting, quality control, policies, procedures, and customer relations. The Manager shall ensure that lab services are best practices, with intentional focus on quality and cost containment and carried out in an expeditious manner. Responsibilities also include recognizing clinical issues that may require consultation with Pathologist, maintaining performance improvement activities, ensuring CE regulated mandates are met and implementation of SOPs. This position is responsible to effectively coordinate seamless relationships with other departments and physicians. This position is responsible for inventory control and supply management and maintains CAP inspection readiness. The candidate should require no direct supervisor and be able to work alone.

Qualifications

Education:Bachelor's degree in related field with Board certification recognized by the State of NV

Experience:
Two years leadership experience in acute care hospital, Experience working with medical staff, administration, and nursing departments. Prefer experience with regulatory agencies, and accreditation of laboratory operations. Experience with POCT monitoring, CLIA regulations and State Legislation requirements for Labs and staff is required.

License/Certification:
Current General Supervisor licensure in the State of Nevada

Technical Skills:Computer proficiency to include word processing, spreadsheets, databases and laboratory software systems. Requires experience with LIS, Automated Interfacing, QA, QC, and corrective action policies.

Other:
Managed care, utilization and standing order experience is preferred.
