Job Description:

To supervise and direct the staff members assigned to the functional work area, including the co-ordination of activities/time and delegation of workload. To ensure that work performed by incumbent and his/her assigned staff meets overall product requirements, consistent with the standards of URS.

Key Accountabilities:

Management:
  • Directs and manages the IVVQ functional work area to deliver high quality, defect free product on time and within budget.
  • Maintains Project Tracking by monitoring performance against budget and schedule, performance metrics collection and interpretation, weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Performs early risk identification and mitigation through corrective actions.
  • Manages resource management, including organizing and developing staff, task assignments, performance appraisals, manpower forecasts within the group, motivating, coaching and training.
  • Provides for Project Planning and Re-planning, including the preparation of all artefacts required (estimates, schedules, estimates to complete, work breakdown structures and Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports, traceability matrices) to deliver CENELEC compliant software products
  • Planning, prioritizing and scheduling work
  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting on workload results by continuous communication to incumbents and Manager.
  • Directs and delegates specific tasks to staff, both in-house and in the field.
  • Responsible to manage and complete work/projects assigned to own area of responsibility
  • Provides support and estimates for the functional area for bids
  • For delivery of the test and verification program within the cost and schedule targets
  • Providing support and input to the Manager for staff planning and to ensure maintenance of skill base, including hiring and termination.
  • Works in conjunction with Manager to ensure all recommendations (such as training, tools, etc.) adhere to overall departmental budget.
  • Conducts (Chairs: as required) meetings with other groups and/or customers on requirements or processes, ensuring product and work integrity are maintained
  • Maintains good customer relations

Technical:
  • Responsible for the implementation of a vigorous system integration and validation program. Responsible for maintaining adherence to company and departmental standard processes and policies.
  • Reviews and approves all work assigned, identifying to staff errors and omissions in requirements and compliance with company policies & procedures.
  • Approves plans, procedures and reports produced by the V&V department.
  • To ensure adequate knowledge of the system design for validation and verification purposes
  • Keeps abreast of trends and current relevant technology. Evaluates new products and ideas for merit, (making suggestions to improve current in-house products(s), and processes).
  • Propose and implement approved process improvements (such as increased test automation) to increase the effectiveness of the test process.

Product Knowledge:
  • To quickly acquire and maintain detailed product knowledge and to actively disseminate this knowledge to more junior staff.

Safety:
  • To ensure adequate coverage of the safety requirements in the test program
  • To ensure adequate coverage of the safety requirements in the verification program


Key Requirements:
  • B.A.Sc Electrical/Computer/Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Team Leadership
  • Systems, validation, verification experience for real time and/or safety critical system
  • Organizational ability
  • Communication skills


Total Compensation Range: $150,000 - $190,000
