Summary of Job Duties:
Responsible for the campus voice and data infrastructure, as well as devices attaching to the network such as VOIP, switches, routers, firewalls, vpn's, physical and virtual servers (Windows and Linux) storage systems (NAS, SAN, etc.), security cameras, along with the connecting fiber and copper cabling. This position is responsible for the employees tasked with maintaining these systems. The position reports to the Director of Information Technology Services/Chief Information Officer.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience:

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information systems or related field, five years' related work experience, and three years of supervisory/management experience in a technical field

Preferred qualifications:

Five or more years supervisory/management experience in a technical field with five or more direct reports. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements upon approval.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• 15% - Manage and maintain the VMware virtual infrastructure.
• 15% - Manage and maintain the SAN (storage area network) infrastructure.
• 15% - Manage and maintain Active Directory, LDAP, and other Directory Services structures.
• 10% - Manage and maintain the University's Microsoft Cloud Applications.
• 20% - Manage and maintain the network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless devices, VPN, UPS units, firewalls, network alerting, backups on site, backups off site, and security cameras.
• 15% - Manage and maintain all servers including both physical, virtual, and cloud, along with the following OS: Mostly Windows, some Linux.
• 10% - Oversee and monitor IT Infrastructure staff's TeamDynamix tickets and projects, including upgrades, patches and fixes according to the change management procedures and policies.

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Creates and communicates policies and procedures and ensures that they are being followed.
• Provides backup and support for employees in the department, including troubleshooting, guidance, and mentoring.
• Work with vendors on design, purchases, budgeting for future needs, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Search out training opportunities for staff to grow and enhance their skills.
• Learn the job skills of employees and be able to fill in for them as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

• Knowledge and experience with data network systems and both wide and local area networking.
• Knowledge and experience with servers and server applications, and how they interact with other systems.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Azure/Entra.
• Knowledge and experience with VMware and/or other types of virtual server technology
• Knowledge of SAN storage devices.
• Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work well in group situations as a supervisor and as a contributing team member.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work within state guidelines.
• Troubleshooting skills in networking and server environments.

Additional Information:

Working Relationships: The Manager of IT Infrastructure will work closely with other IT team members to ensure that there is adequate personnel available to assist other IT staff as needed. The Manager of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for the IT Infrastructure team, contractors and part time/temporary/consultants staffing. The Manager of IT Infrastructure will also work closely with university staff to ensure that needs of students, faculty and staff are met.

List Employees Supervised: One IT Technician, one Telephony Analyst, one Server Administrator, two Server/Security Administrators, and one Network Engineer.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting (80%). Some work performed in server rooms and network closets (20%). Travel occasionally required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. Required abilities include walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods. Visual demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Normal working schedule is 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with extended hours required outside of normal working hours for downtimes.

Salary Information:

$82,000 to $87,000 per year, commensurate with education/experience
