Overview

Are you an experienced internal audit professional who is passionate about understanding how organizations operate, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping leaders manage risk with confidence? We are seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to lead risk-based audit and advisory engagements that help strengthen governance, risk management, and control processes across the organization. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders, develop a deep understanding of the business, and provide meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and organizational success.

Success in this role requires more than technical audit expertise. We are looking for a systems thinker who is curious about how the business operates, able to connect the dots across functions, and committed to delivering practical solutions that create value.

As a leader within the Internal Audit team, you will mentor, coach and develop team members, contribute to the evolution of audit methodologies, and help ensure the department continues to provide relevant, efficient, and high-quality assurance and advisory services.

How you'll make a difference: You'll help ensure WorkSafeBC is accomplishing its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

What you'll do

  • Lead and deliver risk-based audit and advisory engagements from planning through reporting, ensuring work is completed within established timelines and department quality standards
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior audit professionals to strengthen team capability, technical expertise, and overall performance
  • Collaborate with co-sourced external consultants on complex or specialized audit engagements to deliver high-quality audit outcomes
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across the organization to foster collaboration, understand business objectives, and stay informed of emerging risks, initiatives, and organizational changes
  • Provide practical, risk-based insights and recommendations that strengthen governance, risk management, and control processes and support the achievement of organizational objectives
  • Communicate complex audit findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to the development of the annual audit plan by identifying emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen governance, risk management, and controls
  • Lead initiatives to continuously enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Internal Audit function
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking

Is this a good fit for you?

  • A degree in business or a related discipline, or a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA), with the anticipation of obtaining a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification within two years of hiring
  • Certified in Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) would be an asset
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in internal audit, including:
  • Leading high-performing teams to deliver complex audit and advisory engagements from planning through reporting
  • Evaluating governance, risk management, and internal control processes across a broad range of business areas
  • Hand-on use of data analytics, visualization tools and artificial intelligence
  • Experience applying governance, risk management, and control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT, NIST, ISO)

Salary: $119,090.50 - $144,694.96/annually
