Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager - Information Technology (Financial Operations).

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for managing and providing direction to staff FinOps. Detail-oriented financial Manager with expertise in Cloud Financial Management and processes. As our FinOps manager, you'll be the bridge between finance and engineering. You'll ensure our cloud spending is under control and optimized for maximum value. The FinOps Manager will analyze, plan, and communicate, and guide the team toward a future where cloud costs are predictable and aligned with our business goals.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Cloud cost optimization: incumbent will analyze cloud usage patterns and find cost-saving opportunities. The FinOps lead will implement strategies to reduce and control cloud outflows. Drive cloud efficiency initiatives (right-sizing, commitment-based discounts, idle resource termination) and measure ROI of technical projects
  • Financial modeling and analysis: Develop and maintain financial models to forecast cloud costs. Track spending against budgets and provide insights into cost trends and anomalies. Prepare accurate reports on actual costs and trends and normalize spend predictability.
  • Cost Allocation and Chargeback: Manage cost allocation and chargeback mechanisms to ensure accurate distribution of cloud costs across departments and projects.
  • Cloud Cost Management: Monitor and analyze cloud expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize cloud spending.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage cloud budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: FinOps Financial Lead will communicate the cost implications of technical decisions and foster a cost-conscious culture. Work closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align cloud financial management practices with organizational goals and objectives. Evaluate architecture decisions that impact cost efficiency. Identify idle resources and rightsizing opportunities
  • Implementing tagging strategies to attribute cloud costs to specific products, services, or departments.
  • Vendor management and negotiation: Will assist in the negotiation of contracts and optimize pricing and service levels. Collaborate with cloud service providers to manage billing and ensure compliance with service agreements.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate detailed financial reports and dashboards to provide insights into cloud spending patterns, trends, and anomalies. Presenting cost insights and actionable optimization recommendations to both technical teams and business stakeholders. FinOps Manager will be responsible for the communication of cost optimization results to stakeholders.
  • FinOps implementation and advocacy: FinOps Financial Lead will drive the adoption of FinOps principles and best practices and be responsible for educating teams on cost-saving strategies and promote a data-first approach to cloud financial management.
  • Utilizing cloud-native tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management) and third-party solutions (CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Flexera)
  • Policy and Governance: Enforce cloud financial management policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure financial accountability and transparency.
  • Training and Education: Educate and train internal stakeholders on cloud cost management practices and tools to promote a culture of cost awareness and efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in cloud financial management and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Managing FinOps Sr. Business Analysts on day-to-day basis, driving accountability, forecasting FinOps cost, managing workload priorities, and ensuring high-quality, timely insights and ensuring budget efficiency. This teams main focused will be analyzing, detecting anomalies in cloud spend, helping automate workflow, and reporting on cloud spending, recommending best practices and areas to save cost.
  • Develop career tracks and provide career development paths for staff for further growth.
  • Optimize all internal and external processes to create efficiency and ease of use.
  • Manage the day-to-day process and work together with the IT Finance team to review all approved Cloud, AI and API request in Ivanti in our Project Portfolio Meeting or Offcycle request.


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination. Superiorcommunication skills, both written and verbal Possess strong customer service and problem solving skill sets.Knowledgeable of accrual basis of accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Financial acumen: A solid grasp of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis is necessary.
Technical aptitude: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services is key.
Data knowledge: Proficiency in analyzing data is one of your strengths.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences.
Problem-solving attitude, ability to identify and resolve cost-related issues. Able to balance the need of speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
3+ years in a management role, overseeing teams and driving cloud/IT financial management or finance program.
Educational requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, computer science, or a related field
Relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner) are a definite plus
7+ years of experience in financial analysis, 5+ cloud operations, or a related role
Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing cloud costs
Experience with cloud cost management tools and platforms
Familiar with tools like SQL and creating visualizations with BI platforms.
Proven experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP billing and cost management tools.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,493.51 - $152,437.74 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
