Key Responsibilities
IFRS 9 Analytics, Reporting & Governance
Lead the production, analysis, governance, and continuous enhancement of IFRS 9 allowance reporting, executive reporting, and regulatory submissions.
Support quarterly governance forums, including preparation of General Allowance Committee (GAC) materials, CRO memoranda, regulatory reporting packages, and executive-level presentations.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, methodologies, and governance documentation supporting IFRS 9 allowance processes and controls.
Coordinate governance activities, maintain meeting records, document decisions, and track action items to ensure effective execution and audit readiness.
Data Analytics, Automation & Visualization
Develop automated reporting, dashboards, and analytical solutions using SQL/ Python / R, and Power BI / Tableau, and other analytics tools.
Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, emerging risks, and business insights.
Build scalable reporting and monitoring processes that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual intervention.
Design and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and performance metrics to support senior management decision-making.
Perform data validation, reconciliations, and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting outputs.
Risk Management & Controls
Develop and maintain effective governance and control frameworks supporting risk reporting, regulatory compliance, model governance, and financial reporting processes.
Identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, and emerging risks; recommend and implement sustainable solutions.
Perform control testing, UAT coordination, validation activities, and issue remediation in support of audit and regulatory requirements.
Support interactions with Internal Audit, External Audit, and regulatory stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Initiatives
Lead or support strategic initiatives involving reporting transformation, process automation, cloud migration, data modernization, and dashboard development.
Partner with Risk, Finance, Technology, Data Management, and Model Development teams to drive innovation and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Economics, or related quantitative discipline.
5-7+ years of experience in risk management, IFRS 9, analytics, regulatory reporting, governance, audit, or financial services.
Strong technical proficiency in:
Python (required)
R (good to have)
Power BI and/or Tableau (required)
SQL (good to have)
Advanced Excel and data visualization tools (required)
Experience working with large datasets, relational databases, data warehouses, and reporting environments.
Strong understanding of IFRS 9, credit risk, allowance methodologies, regulatory reporting, or model governance frameworks.
Experience preparing executive-level presentations, governance materials, meeting minutes, and audit-ready documentation.
Demonstrated ability to automate manual reporting processes and develop scalable analytical solutions.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
