Full Job Description
The NHMLAC is seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Human Resources department. The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for effective management of the key human resources functions, including but not limited to: employee relations, union and labor relations, department and managerial consultation, training and education, recruitment, leaves of absence, employee separations, ADA accommodations, ergonomics, workers' compensation, and federal, state and local compliance.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Union and Labor Relations: Managing day-to-day labor relations, serving as the primary point of contact for union representatives, administering and interpreting the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and managing the grievance process.
  • Strategic HR & Compliance: Implementing HR strategies, analyzing HR metrics, driving employee engagement, and ensuring organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and policies.
  • Employee Relations & Leave Management: Serving as a point of contact for employee relations issues, advising managers on disciplinary actions, conducting exit interviews, and managing all aspects of employee leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, etc.), including ergonomic assessments.
  • Talent Management & Onboarding: Collaborating with hiring managers on the full recruitment lifecycle, developing high-level recruitment strategies, updating job descriptions, managing the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and continuously redesigning inclusive onboarding best practices.
  • Collaborates and communicates with managers regarding employee personnel status changes and teams with Human Resources colleagues for formal processing.


This position has the following requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in human resources, with a focus on strategic HR Business partnering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Union.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required, Master's degree or SHRM SCP/CP preferred.
  • Working familiarity with HRIS, ATS, and PTS platforms.
  • Complete working knowledge of the Museum's human resources policies and procedures; generally accepted human resources practices; and an understanding of federal and state regulations relating to data security, privacy, and secure systems.
  • Proficient in using computers and with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, GSuite, basic internet, email, and calendaring system.


The salary range for this position is $92,000.00-$99,000.00 per annum with excellent benefits. This is a full-time regular, exempt position.
